Troops supported by vigilantes detained 2 suspected Boko Haram members on the NIGERIA-CAMEROUN Border who claimed to be from GAMBORU NGALA LGA, who had left ABBAGANARAM Village, MARTE LGA and attempted to infiltrate GAMBORU as tiring of staying in the bush
14 August
Gunmen attacked friendly positions in KANGARWA, KUKUWA LGA, BORNO State round 5.30pm but were defeated after a firefight losing 16 enemy dead, 1 x RPG launcher, 1 x RPG round, 11 x AK 47, 6 x AK 47 magazines, 1 x 60mm mortar barrel, 12 x 60mm mortar bombs, 1 x Type 36 hand grenade, 1 x Gionee mobile phone, 1 x ammunition bandolier. Friendly forces suffered 12 wounded
The Army declared 3 people wanted over their contacts with Boko Haram, including journalist Ahmed SALKIDA, Ambassador Ahmed U. BOLORI and Aisha WAKIL, alleging they were wanted for their knowledge of the GSS CHIBOK abductees whereabouts. No evidence was presented to support the allegation
The Bill and Melinda GATES Foundation donated $1m to the BORNO State government for feeding IDPs and agriculture. 40,000 households were meant to benefit from the food distribution receiving 25kg of rice and 10kg of beans. 10 hectares would be used for beans cultivation shared amongst 200 farm families 15 August Friendly forces conducted a fighting patrol to DOGON CHIKUN, BORNO State capturing 1 x pick up truck and liberating 5 people
A combined Army, MOPOL, patrol engaged enemy forces in BOCOS, BAMA LGA, killing 1 and recovering 5 bicycles, a mobile phone and a wheelbarrow of foodstuffs. They also rescued 2 men, 9 women and 17 children in BAMA LGA, BORNO State who stated they had escaped from BULA MUSA Village
Troops at BAMA IDP camp intercepted 1 man, 5 women, 10 boys and 7 girls with 2 horses and 3 donkeys who claimed to have escaped from BULA MUSA
IDPs (2 men, 12 women, 12 boys and 11 girls) from GULUMBA GANA Village, along GULUMBA-KUMSHE Road, BAMA LGA, BORNO State were intercepted by troops in DIKWA who sent them to the IDP camp
Troops conducted fighting patrols towards WADAMA, IZAKAH, GELEMARI and KALIZARAM Villages
Forces in MONGUNO, MONGUNO LGA conducted an intelligence led raid on a group of Boko Haram fighters who had been allegedly extorting money and valuables from villagers in ZANKARI, 2 enemy were killed and 1 wounded, 1 x AK 47 and 3 x 7.62mm (AK) rounds were recovered

Aisha WAKIL who was declared wanted by the military turned herself in at Defence HQ, ABUJA, FCT
Gunmen ambushed a convoy of NIS officials and traders in the vicinity of GWAJIBO Village, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State around 2.30pm as they headed from GAMBORU, NGALA LGA to MAIDUGURI, with small arms killing 5 traders and wounding 3 Immigration officials, 2 trucks were looted and then burnt. The NIS officials had been registering returned refugees in GAMBORU
16 August
The NAF released a video refuting allegations in the latest Boko Haram video that they were responsible for the deaths of any GSS CHIBOK abductees
Ms WAKIL has reportedly been transferred from military to the DSS custody
The Nigerian Military states that it did not declare WAKIL, BOLORI and SALKIDA anted in the criminal sense but to get their assistance on strategies to combat Boko Haram

The NAF conducted airstrikes on enemy targets in TAYE Village in the vicinity of GOMBALE in the SAMBISA Forest, BAMA LGA, BORNO State at night reportedly inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy as they were conducting a ritual reportedly killing 3 enemy commanders Abubakar MUBI, Malam NUHU and Malam HAMMAN. Security forces also claim to have ‘fatally wounded’ Abubakar SHEKAU in his shoulders. It is unclear how the information on enemy casualties was derived. The NAF also stated it conducted air strikes on a concentration of enemy in a location between MALAM FATORI and KANGARWA, KUKAWA LGA killing 300, following HUMINT that was corroborated by ISR imagery on 16 August. It is unclear if these are the same incidents
20 August
Media reports state that the Federal Government s purchasing Adcomm Systems Yahbon Flash 20 Medium Altitude Long Endurance UAVs from the UAE to replace Chinese CH-3A’s and 15x Mi 35M’s from RUSSIA, with 3 to arrive in November 2016, 33 NAF personnel had been trained on the platform
Commander Op Lafiya Dole, Maj Gen Lucky IRABOR stated that the military has received 3 pieces of unspecified counter IED equipment.
Approximately 8 gunmen mounted on 4 motorcycles attacked KUBURUBU Village, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State (between CHIBOK and DAMBOA) around 5.00am killing 7 people, abducting 7 women, 5 boys and 1 girl and stealing livestock and food stuffs and then burning the village.

KADUNA State Police Command stated they had arrested 14 suspected kidnappers and 7 suspected armed robbers in the past 2 weeks, recovering 123 x 7.62mm(AK) rounds 4 x cartridges and 2 x motorcycles

Elements of 223 Bn, 1 Bde, 1 Div conducted fighting patrols to clear bandit camps in BABA-NOKA, CHILLIN and PAMAGAJI-MAGIHA Villages, DANSADAU Emirate, MARU LGA, ZAMFARA State. A local Fulani leader ALhaji RUWA handed over 2 x locally made pistols and 3 x dane guns and promised to convince other bandits to surrender

KADUNA State Police have arrested a gang suspected of kidnapping along KADUNA-ABUJA Road UNGWAN KAWU Village, DAN DUMI LGA, KATSINA State, N250,000 of ransom money was recovered
KANO State Police Command arrested 17 suspected kidnappers in KARASA Village, DOGUWA LGA, KANO State in the vicinity of the FALGORE Forest. Also recovered were unspecified amounts of weapons ammunition, livestock and other criminal paraphernalia

3 x gunmen mounted in a tricycle murdered a man in an attempted robbery KADUNA, KADUNA State around 8.30pm who had reportedly recently returned from MALAYSIA, stealing their car
