NORTHERN NIGERIA INTERNAL SECURITY SITREP- Week Ending 25 November 2017

Situation North East (Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States)

19 November

Suspected Bachama gunmen from KIKAN, KWODOMTI and SHAFARAN, NUMAN LGA, ADAMAWA State and attacked Fulani villages in the vicinity of KIKAN, KWODOMTI, SHAWAL, GUMARA and SHAFARAN. killing up to 51 mainly women and children as most of the men were at market or a wedding ceremony in MAYO BELWA. The Bachama gunmen were allegedly avenging the death of a farmer who they claimed was murdered by Fulani herdsmen.

7 x gunmen mounted on 2 x motorcycles abducted 7 farmers  from LAWANTI Village, JERE LGA and MASU Vilage, MAFA LGA, BORNO State  working their fields in a plantation in the vicinity of DIMGE, MAFA LGA, killing 2 with bladed weapons and shooting 4 others, their eldery collegaue was left alive and told to inform the victims families

Commander MNJTF Gen IRABOR visited Sector 3 MNJTF consisting of 7 Bde in BAGA, KUKAWA LGA, BORNO State commanded by Brig Gen Oluyinka SOYELE

20 November

NAF ISR Aircraft identified a suspected IED making facility in YIWE Forest, 23km south of KONDUGA, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State, an MI 17, 2 x ALphajets and 2 x F- 7Ni were tasked to attack the target in air strikes over 2 days with bombs, rockets and cannon fire. Secondary explosions were observed.

21 November

A teenage male PBIED detonated in MASSALACIN MADINA Mosque, ANGUWAN SHUWA, MUBI, MUBI NORTH LGA, ADAMAWA State around 5.00am killling up to 58 people

A suspected female PBIED was intercepted in BAKIN DUTSE near GULAK, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State by vigilantes. Their leader was killed when she detonated

Boko Haram released an 8 minute 56 second video allegedly showing an attack on friendly forces on 10 November in SABON GARI, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State

22 November

The CDS Gen. Gabriel OLONISAKIN visitied MAIDUGURI, BORNO State where he was received by MCCC Comander Maj Gen Attahiru IBRAHIM

23 November

Hunters from GUR Village, BIU LGA, BORNO State and hunters from DAMATURU, YOBE State intercepted suspected cattle rustlers east of BURASHIKA Village, BIU LGA, BORNO State, killing 1 after a long firefight and capturing 1 x AK 47, 2 x 7.62mm (AK) rounds, 48 cowsm 58 goats, 36 sheep and 12 donkeys

24 November

NAF ISR aircraft detected a suspected Boko Haram gathering in the vicinity of BOGUMERI, BORNO State, whilst on routine patrol. NAF Alphajets were tasked to engage the target with bombs, destroying it and setting it ablaze

25 November

A large number of gunmen attacked an 5 Bde Garrison, 8 TF Div FOB in the vicinity of MAGUMERI, MAGUMERI LGA, BORNO State with small arms and IEDs around 7.00pm from the BENGEL axis killing up to 6 soldiers and 3 civilians and wounding 6. The FOB was overrun and the attackers occupied the town until a counter attack pushed them back. The attackers were suspected to be Boko Haram ISWAP fighters based on DABAR MASARA Island on Lake CHAD

The IGP Ibrahim IDRIS stated that 5 MOPOL units would be deployed to ADAMAWA State to prevent any further clashes in NUMAN LGA

Situation North West (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States)

18 November

Suspected armed robbers blocked KANKARA-SHEME Road, in the vicinity of MABAI Village, KANKARA LGA, KATSINA State around 9.00pm, the gunmen opened fire killing several peaceful civilians

20 November

Gunmen attacked GARO Town, KABO LGA, KANO State around 11.00pm killing 1 person and wounding 2 others. The gunmen were allegedly targetting a local businessman. But in his absence they attacked and burnt 5 shops. The NPF responded wounding one suspect in the legs, whilst 2 others sustained fractures

21 November

Gunmen ambushed a commercial bus on ABUJA- KADUNA Road around 6.30am in the vicinity of SABO-WUSE, TAFA LGA, NIGER State killing an off duty FRSC Road Marshal and kidnapping the remainder of the passangers including two other Road Marshals

23 November

The COAS Lt Gen TY BURATAI stated the Army will open a FOB in THE FALGORE Forest, DOGUWA LGA, KANO State for use as a training area and to counter banditry and cattle rustling

Situation North Centre (Abuja FCT, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba States)

19 November

A communal clash between the GBANCHUKU/ KPOROKA and NUMAYE Communities of LOKOJA LGA, KOGI State resulted in 1 dead and several wounded after a land dispute degenerated into violence

Gunmen broke into a house in MADAKIN GARAM, TARANGOL Village, BOKKOS LGA, PLATEAU State around 8.35pm and murdered a local Chief

21 November

Gunmen abducted 4 people including the Village Head, Haruna GIZO from UNGUWAN GIZO, KAGARA LGA, NIGER State

Gunmen murdered the Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, Waziri FURSOM around 12.35am  in BAYAN DUTSE-FURSOM Village, JOS NORTH LGA

Gunmen killed the JOS NORTH Vigilance Group Commander  Musa AGALU in BUKURU Park, JOS NORTH LGA, PLATEAU State around 11.00pm.

The NPF in GOMBE State have paraded 12 suspected armed robbers, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other criminals who were arrested with the assistance of local hunters association between BALANGA LGA, GOMBE State and LAMORDE LGA, ADAMAWA State. Also recovered were 1 x AK 47, 70 rounds of ammunition, 1 x pistol, 6 x mobile phones, charms, knives and other parphanelia

23 November

The NPF NIGER State Command arrested a suspected cattle rustler in AGWARA, LAMBATA, GURARA LGA, who was rearing 18 stolen cattle. Police also raided a suspected cattle rustlers den in GOTO RISHI Forest, PAIKORO LGA recovering 80 cattle and 23 sheep

24 November

The NPF in NIGER State claim to have rescued 4 people including the Village Head of UNGUWAN GIZO, KAGARA LGA, with the support of local vigilantes from BIRNIN GWARI LGA, KADUNA State

20 November

A suspected PBIED detonated in KOLOFATA, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region killing himself and 3 children and wounding 20 others. The device was hidden in a bag of beans
