Situation North East (Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States)

20 October

Soldiers ambushed enemy forces in the vicinity of MUSUNE Village, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State killing 61 enemy and capturing weapons

21 October

The NAF conducted air strikes in forests in the vicinity of GUDUMBALI Village, GUZAMALA LGA, BORNO State on reported concentrations of enemy fighters. Local hunters and vigilantes reported that 350 enemy were killed in 9 suspected enemy camps where they had been gathering for 2 weeks

22 October

3 x suspected PBIEDs attacked MAIDUGURI, BORNO State. A male PBIED detonated at an eatery in MUNA Garage around 8.20pm killing himself and 13 people and wounding 5. 2 x female PBIEDs detonated a few minutes later in MUNA DALTI killing themselves and wounding up to 18 others

23 October

The NAF began Op Ruwan Wata 2, a day and night air interdiction campaign

24 October

NAF ISR aircraft identified suspected enemy structures in the vicinity of GARIN MALOMA, BORNO State, 2 x NAF Alphajets were tasked to the targets, with the first bombing the suspected positions followed by another which strafed the target with rockets

NAF Mi 17 and Mi 35 helicopters struck suspected enemy positions in ARRA, BAMA LGA and BOBOSHE, MAFA LGA, BORNO State

A letter from one of the captured UNIMAID lecturrers was delivered to the University of MAIDUGURI addressed to his wife

Elements of 3Bn, 22 Bde and 22 Bde MST supported by CJTF vigilantes conducted deliberate operations against suspected enemy positions in MOGOLA, NGAIWA, TONGULE and WARSELE, NGALA LGA, BORNO State, destroying an enemy Logistics base in NGAIWA, IED makign facility in TONGULE and rescued 85 people, killing 11 enemy and capturing 1 x gun truck, 5 x motorcycles, 13 bicycles, a wheelbarrow, 4 x PBIED vests, 3 x dane guns, 1 x Beretta 9mm pistol and 22 x 7.62mm rounds

Gunmen mounted in 6 x trucks attacked 233 Bn positions in the vicinity of SASAWA Village, DAMATURU LGA, YOBE State, 45km from DAMATURU around 5.00pm killing 8 soldiers and 1 civilian and wounding 5, at least 7 other soldiers were initially reported missing and then found dead. Troops held off the attack for several hours until the enemy was reinforced with gunmen in 3 more pickups trucks, overrunning the base around midnight and capturing at least 2 x gun trucks, small arms and ammunition. The attackers looted foodstuffs from the village and withdrew in the direction of KARETO and MAGUMERI in BORNO State, burning harvested crops in TUNGUSHE as they withdrew. The insurgents reportedly parked near a nomadic settlement as they withdrew where they argued violently over sharing the loot. The base was recaptured by elements of 233Bn and 27Bde

A strike package of 2 x F-7Ni and 3 x Alphajets attacked suspected enemy positions in GHAT MUSA, ADAMAWA State 16km northwest of MADAGALI, with 2 F-7 Ni and 2 x Alphajets bombing targets and the 3rd Alphajet using rocket and cannon to attack the remaining enemy

25 October

The NAF conducted air strikes on suspected enemy positions in PARISU, BAMA LGA, BORNO State, the North-eastern access to the SAMBISA Forest with 2 x Alphajet and 2 x F-7Ni, with 2 x F-7Ni and 1 x Alphajet striking the targets with 1 x Alphajet following up with rockets and cannon.

The NAF claims that it has human intelligence that suggests the wife of Abubakar SHEKAU, Mallama FITDASI had been killed in an airstrike in the vicinity of DURWAWA on the outskirts of URGA, near KONDUGA, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State on 19 October 2017

BORNO State Governor Kashim SHETTIMA visited the MNJTF Brigade Commander Brigadier Oluyinka SOYELE in BAGA, the Brigadier stated that some Lake CHAD islands were still in enemy hands as well as parts of GUDUMBALI, ABADAM and MARTE LGAs

Suspected nomadic herdsmen killed a security guard with axes after he challenged them for trespassing on the land in SANGERE, near YOLA, YOLA SOUTH LGA, ADAMAWA State

26 October

 

Elements of 112 TF Bn, 22 Bde based in DIKWA ambushed suspected enemy gunmen crossing into the SAMBISA Forest in the vicinity of LUMDA Village, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State on the MAIDUGURI- DIKWA Road, killing 3 and wounding several others, capturing 5 x bicycles, mechanics tools, sacks and mosquito nets

NAF ISR detected suspected enemy build up in DURE, GWOZA LGA, BORNO Stet 12km east of the SAMBISA Forest tasking 3 x Alphajets and 2 x F- 7Ni to attack the targets with bombs.

2 x F-7Ni and 3 x Alphajet conducted air strikes on MANGUSUM, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State with bombs and rockets/ cannon respectively

ISWAP claimed responsibility for the Tuesday 24 October attack on SASAWA and claimed to have captured 3 x 4 wheel drive vehicles, heavy weapons, small arms and ammunition

27 October

Elements of 121 Bn, 26 TF Bde conducted clearance operations in the vicinity of DURE, clearing JANGO, NDUMA, GOBARA, BALA IBRAHIM, FULANI ROGO and TAKWALA Villages, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State killing 3 enemy and capturing one, as well as 1 x G3 rifle, filled magazines, military style uniforms. 1 soldier was wounded

Elements of 112Bn and 22 Bde MST supported by CJTF Vigilantes conducted intelligence led clearance operations in GAWA, BONE, KAJERI 1, KAJERI 2, KUBE, DUBULA, BOBOSHE 1 and BOBOSHE 2, BAMA LGA, BORNO State identifying an improvised night market in BOBOSHE, where the enemy sold harvested farm produce and recovering 3 x Isuzu trucks, 1 x dummy gun, 4 x Dane guns and mattresses in the vicinity of BONE Village. 5 abductees were rescued from BOBOSHE 1 and DUBULA.

The CAS AM Sadique ABUBAKAR commissioned and expanded apron at 105 Composite Group, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State as well as 3 x blocks of 10 self-contained rooms and a block of 30 x studio apartments. The CAS stated that more helicopters would be deployed to the Northeast

Elements of 242Bn intercepted suspected Boko Haram PBIEDs in NGALLE Village, BORNO State killing 1 and capturing a large IED contained in a sawn off gas cylinder, 1 x AK47 magazine, 1 x motorcycle, and spare parts

Troops ambushed suspected enemy crossing the MAIDUGURI- MONGUNO Road in the vicinity of TOROWA Village, NGANZAI LGA, BORNO State killing 1 and capturing 1 x AK 47 with 19 x 7.62mm (AK), 3 x mobile phones, a SIM card and jewelleries

Suspected nomadic herdsmen attacked farmers in TUDUN HASSAN Village near MALKOHI IDP Camp, YOLA SOUTH LGA, ADAMAWA State, killing a family of 4 after they challenged them for grazing on their land, a policeman who intervened was also killed

28 October

2 x suspected female PBIEDs prematurely detonated as they attempted to infiltrate MAGAR Village, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State, wounding 1 woman

Gunmen attacked GONIRI, GUJBA LGA, YOBE State from the area of SAMBISA, TALALA and ALAGARNO west but were repelled by friendly forces

A suspected female PBIED detonated 100m from the Primary School in DAR, near GULAK, MADAGALI LGA, BORNO State another detonated a short while later.

Suspected nomadic gunmen clashed with farmers at TASHAN JINGA Village, YOLA SOUTH LGA, when they began grazing on their farm, a team fron the Agro Rangers Unit of the NSCDC responded but were beaten back by the arrows from the herdsmen, with 2 wounded, a Toyota Hilux damaged and a rifle stolen

Situation North West (Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States)

23 October

The Islamic Movement of NIGERIA (IMN) held a peaceful protests across Northern NIGERIA asking for the release of their leader Ibraheem EL ZAKZAKY but complained they were attacked by the police in KADUNA and SOKOTO States.

27 October

Gunmen ambushed elements of 223 Light Tank Bn in MARU LGA, ZAMFARA State, wounding 1 soldier and burning 2 vehicles

The NPF paraded several suspected armed robbers and kidnappers at REJINNA Police Base detained along ABUJA- KADUNA and KANO-JIGAWA-KADUNA Road

28 October

Elements of Sector 6, 1 Div supported by the NPF and local vigilantes cleared suspected bandit camps in the forests around GOBARAWA MATARI Village, SOBA LGA, KADUNA State engaging suspected bandits in a firefight, killing 2 and arresting 1. 1 x AK 47, 29 x rounds of ammunition, 1 x Dane gun, 1 x motorcycle, 3 x mobile phones and N20,000.00 were recovered.

Situation North Centre (Abuja FCT, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Taraba States)

12 October

Gunmen abducted a female KOGI State Ploytechnic student on ITAKPE-LOKOJA-OKENE Road. The kidnappers allegedly demanded a N10m ransom reduced to N500,000.00

22 October

2 groups of criminals clashed in DAN ANACHA, GASSOL LGA, TARABA State leading to 1 dead and several wounded and burning the shops of traders. The problem allegedly originated when 4 Muslim youths at a brothel accused a Christian youth of blasphemy for having Muslim prayer beads, beat him and handed him overr to the police. The detainees gang then went to the police sttion to effect a release whilst the other gang went to prevent it

Gunmen allegedly abducted the DPO of SARKIN PAWA Division, from his house in TURIN FULANI, BOSSO LGA, NIGER State around 6.30pm

Police engaged gunmen in a firefight on TAKUM-KATSINA ALA Road killing one named as YAMADUWEH, the second in command to wanted gang leader Terwase AKWAZA. The police recovered 1 x G3 and 10 x 7.62mm (NATO) rounds

A search party found the body of a Fulani boy who had been missing for a week in RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State

23 October

Approximately 15 gunmen attacked a work party constructing the OBAJANA- KABBA- OSHOKOSHOKO in the vicinity of OBAJANA, LOKOJA LGA, KOGI State Road around 5.00pm, engaging the attached police in a firefight, killing 2 policemen and abducting a Portuguese citizen

24 October

Gunmen attacked JOL Village, RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State killing 2 people and wounding 2 others around 9.30pm

A communal clash between MBAYION and MBATIAV peoples in MBAYION, GBOKO LGA, BENUE State led to the death of 1 person, several dozen owunded and over 40 houses burnt

25 October

BENUE State Police Command paraded 4 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers who allegedly operated along OTURKPO-ALIADE and NAKA Roads. They recovered 2 x AK 47, 2 x locally made sngle barrel pistols, 4 x rounds of ammuniton, 4 x cartridges, 1 x military style trousers, 44 x mobile phones, 10 x SIM cards, 6 x memory cards, 4 x jack knives and a bag of charms.

26 October

The Stephan’s Foundation stated that up to 75 people had been killed, 23 wounded and 13,726 displaced in 2 attacks by suspected Fulani gunmen on 2 villages in IRIGWE Kingdom, BASSA LGA, PLATEAU State between 08 September and 17 October 2017

28 October

Elements of 93 Bn, 13 Bde acting on information from the public detained 2 suspected Boko Haram terrorists (Jamilu ADAMU and Garba ADAMU) who were identified loitering around GISHIRI Village, IBBI LGA, TARABA State. The men were allegedly fishermen from KIRTA, MARTE LGA, BORNO State, who claimed to have been abducted by Boko Haram ISWAP and forcibly conscripted as boat operators prior to their escape to GISHIRI.

President Recep Tayyip ERDOGAN visited President BUHARI in ABUJA, FCT, where he stated that there was no difference between Boko Haram, Daesh and the ‘Fetuhallah Terrorist Organiation (FETO)’

26 October

3 x male PBIEDs attempted to attack MOZOGO, MAYO MOSKOTA, EXTREME NORD Region, one of them prematurely detonated his device upon approaching a vigilante checkpoint, killing himself and the 2 others

27 October

A Boko Haram commander surrended to vigilantes in TOLKOMARI, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region in the morning, followed by a small group of Boko Haram fighters surrended in the morning

28 October

Gunmen attacked GANSE, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region
