Gunmen attacked GHANTSA Community, MAKWAN Village, near GULAK, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State around 12 midnight, burning several houses, nearby vigilantes responded killing 7 and capturing 1 wounded

16 October

The BORNO State EMA donated food and other relief material to 162 CJTF widows

Gunmen attacked KALLALI village, CHIBOK (?) LGA, BORNO State stealing food and burning the village

17 October

Presidential Spokesman Garba SHEHU stated that a faction of Boko Haram led by Mamman NUR was holding 83 GSS CHIBOK abductees and was willing to negotiate their release

Gunmen mounted in at least 8 x pick up trucks attacked MNJTF positions in the vicinity of GASHIGAR, MOBBAR LGA, BORNO State occupied by elements of 145 Task Force Bn positions around 5.30pm with small arms, heavy weapons and RPGS, defeating friendly forces with 22 reported wounded and up to 83 reported missing allegedly including the CO, Lt Col K. YUSUF. The attack was allegedly initiated with RPGS and small arms against an outpost (or patrol) in the vicinity of ASAKA  village, 15km from GASHIGAR and despite the presence of 2 x light armoured vehicles (1 of which was allegedly burnt, the fate of the other is unknown) friendly forces were overwhelmed, withdrawing towards the KOMADOUGOU YOBE River, where several allegedly drowned. Reinforcements from Nigerien forces deployed from NGARWA, DIFFA Region, the next day recovering 9 Nigerian soldiers around 7.00am, 7 around 2.00pm and 6 from the river around 5.30pm. the enemy allegedly captured 6 vehicles

Boko Haram/ISWAP has claimed responsibility for the attack on GHASHIGAR, claiming they killed 20 soldiers

18 October

ADAMAWA State Police Command arrested 11 suspected armed robbers on NUMAN-LAFIYA and NGURORE-MAYO-BELWA Roads recovering 3 x single barrel weapons, 1 x locally made pistol with 4 x rounds, 2 x cutlasses, 3 x machetes, 1 x laptop and 3 x mobile phones

Gunmen attacked GOPTARI, CHIBOK LGA, BORNO State 10km from CHIBOK Town around 8.00pm with small arms, defeating the troops there and capturing a vehicle and then burning the village and stealing food and livestock. 1 soldier was reported wounded.

19 October

A Staff Sgt has been convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm to a 10 year old boy in MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, in an incident in March which led to the victims arm being amputated. The allegations were brought by the victim’s parents through the National Human Rights Council. He was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment and reduction in rank to Private

21 October

The Minister of Health Prof Isaac ADEWOLE launched the Operationalisation of Saving One Million lives Programme for the North East in MAIDUGURI, BORNO State as part of the Task Force for the North East a sub unit of the Presidential Committee on the North East which will focus of water, health, the environment and nutrition as its 4 critical areas with N4.3bn budgeted for health

22 October

Troops arrested 21 suspected Boko Haram cattle traders/ rustlers in BORNO State

The COAS Lt Gen T.Y. BURATAI opened a new Tac HQ for 331 Artillery Bde in a FOB in BURATAI, BIU LGA, BORNO State along DAMATURU-BIU Road

The Army denied media reports that up to 83 soldiers were missing in GASHIGAR

Approximately 20 suspected nomadic gunmen attacked GALWYI Village, CHIKUN LGA, KADUNA State 10km south west of KADUNA, killing 2 people, wounding 2 and stealing up to 100 cattle, Police from GWAGWADA responded and pursued them with local vigilante killing 1 but were unable to stop them. The thieves allegedly informed the nearby villages of KAWAURE, GUIDNA and ZHEDNA that they were the next targets

17 October

A mob reportedly attacked a broken down commercial vehicle and allegedly murdered 8 passengers suspected of being Fulani, burning the vehicle, 6 passengers in another vehicle were also murdered.

IMN has called for ‘scores of minors’ it alleges have been detained for over a week without charge in PLATEAU and KATSINA States to be releases

KANO State Police announced they had arrested 11 suspected kidnappers and rescued 12 abductees on 11 October, after an hour long firefight from the FALGORE Forest, DOGUWA LGA, recovering 1 x AK 47, 2 x loaded AK magazines, 250 x 7.62mm (AK), 8 x Bajaj motorcycles, masks, suspected cannabis, food items, soft drinks

Elements of 1 Div on Op Sharan Daji conducted a raid on suspected cattle rustlers and bandit amps in BARIKIN DAJI Forest in the vicinity of MASAFA Village, TALATA MAFARA LGA, ZAMFARA State killing 4 suspects and recovering a motorcycle and burning the camp. Other 1 Div elements conducted a similar operation in in ANCHAU Forest, KUBAU LGA, KADUNA State detaining 3 suspected kidnapers

20 October

Gunmen abducted the General Overseer of the SOKOTO SATATE Zakat and Endowment Committee Malla Muhammed MAIDOKI, his wife and 2 other women on the ABUJA-MINNA Road. A N10m ransom was allegedly demanded

Social media reports from a Facebook Group claim that vigilantes reportedly captured 2 suspects who allegedly guided gunmen to remote villages. The suspects who were allegedly Christians from KAGORO, KAURA LGA, were reportedly paid N15,000 each  for the attack on GODOGODO

Gunmen killed 3 MOPOL on the PLATEAU KADUNA Road in the vicinity of HAWAN KIBO, RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State near the KADUNA State border and their weapon stolen

PLATEAU State Governor Simon LALONG has stated that he will declare a weapons amnesty for state residents whilst visiting Op Safe Haven HQ in JOS, to inspect confiscated weapons.

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles attacked a bar in TOR DONGA, KATSINA ALA LGA, BENUE State around 9.00pm killing 3 people and then killing 2 others including an 85 year old woman in their homes, up to 28 people were reportedly wounded.

Police in BENUE State raided a suspected hideout of Terwase AKWAZA (aka GHANA) in GBISHE Town, KATSINA ALA LGA, engaging the suspects in a firefight, fatally wounding 2 and recovering a motorcycle, 164 x explosives, 2 x ‘rocket casings’, 2 x AK 47 magazines, 2 x sacks of cannabis, 10 x mobile phones, 1 x dane gun, 5 x live cartridges, military style uniforms and 20 x 7.62mm (AK) rounds

A clash between vigilantes and a local man in EJINYA EHECHE,  ANKPA LGA, KOGI State led to the man firing at them with a double barrel shotgun, inadvertently fatally wounding an innocent passing farmer from nearby EJINYA ABAKPA Village. Villagers from EJINYA ABAKPA Village attacked EJINYA EHECHE after the man died in hospital burning 12 houses

17 October

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles from MUJAO crossed the Malian border and attacked KOUTOUKALE Prison, TILLABERI Region 50km northwest of NIAMEY around 4.00am with small arms and PBIEDS. The prison allegedly held prisoners from AQIM and Boko Haram. The attack was repelled with 1 enemy killed and 3 motorcycles and 33 explosive belts captured and 2 guards wounded

18 October
