2 x suspected male PBIEDs detonated outside a Mosque in SULEMANTI Ward near NNPC depot on DAMBOA Road, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State as they attempted to enter for Tahajud prayers but were stopped by vigilantes. The 2 suspects were killed and 1 vigilante wounded

Justice Alkali Gana WAKKIL visited MAIDUGURI Maximum Security Prison, MAIDUGURI which houses 772 Boko Haram suspects and 10 women and children who were family members of the suspects. It is unclear if they are detained for prosecution or rehabilitation.

28 June

121 TF Bn, 26 TF Bde supported by the NAF and GWOZA CJTF vigilantes conducted a fighting patrol to clear enemy from NGOSHE and GAVA Villages, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State. Camerounian forces provided support as well, the enemy was engaged with 1 x RPG tube, 4 x RPG rounds, 1 x GPMG, 1 x FN FAL, 3 x AK 47, 1 x SMG, 1 x locally made pistol, 1 x locally made double barrel, 1 x smoke grenade, 243 x 7.62mm (NATO), 1 x 7.62mm (AK), 18 x rounds of MI16 rifle (maybe 5.56mm ammunition?), 3 x G3 magazines, 1 x mobile phone, 1 x SIM card, 1 x desert pattern military style uniform, 3 x enemy flags, 1 x Toyota Hilux and motorcycles. 16 people were rescued from GAVA, whilst trapped locals fled

The QATAR Charity donated 1,500 litres of palm oil, 1,500 bags of rice, beans, guinea corn, maize and millet worth N6.5m to IDPS in BORNO State

29 June

Elements of 118 TF Bn, 8 TF Div in blocking positions around GARERE Junction, ambushed the enemy in the vicinity of GUDUMBALI, GUZAMALA LGA, BORNO State killing 2 and wounding 1 enemy. 2 x AK 47, 1 x G3, 660 litres of petrol and many military style uniforms were captured and a truck earlier stolen in KANGARWA was recovered

Gunmen mounted in vehicles and motorcycles attacked friendly positions in KANGARWA, KUKAWA LGA, BORNO State defeating them after a 3-hour firefight killing and wounding several enemy and wounding 8 soldiers and 2 vigilantes. 1 x friendly MRAP was damaged by an RPG. Several motorcycles, 1 x GPMG, 1 x PKM, 3 x AK47, 6 x 81mm mortar bombs, 4 x RPG rounds, 3 x IED detonators, at least 3 x 40mm grenade rounds, 7.62mm (AK) link, various ammunition types, a tyre and various drugs were captured.

Gunmen attacked DILLE Village, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State around 7.00pm killing 1 person, burning the village and looting foodstuffs and livestock

KADUNA State NDLEA Commander Samuel AZIGE stated that January- March 2016; 74 suspected drug offenders had been arrested, 10 convicted, 68 addicts rehabilitated and 15, 342 tons of narcotics seized. From April to June44 suspects had been arrested, 10 convicted and 155 kg seized

The CAS Air Marshal Sadique ABUBAKAR stated the NAF and other forces would identify and destroy the Boko Haram radio whilst attending the graduation of 10 pilots from 301 Flying Training School, NAF KADUNA

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles attacked GURGUZU Village, IGABI LGA, KADUNA State around 6.00pmkilling 4 and wounding 6 people. Up to 500 people were displaced, taking refuge in KARSHEN KWALTA Primary school in RIGASA

Elements of 223 Bn, 1 Bde, 1 Div under Op Sharan Daji conducted a fighting patrol to KABARU Village Forest, MARU LGA, ZAMFARA State, bandits were engaged with 3 killed and several wounded, 20 x motorcycles, mobile phones, 4 x empty 7.62mm (NATO), 4 x empty 7.62mm (AK) and some charms were captured. Further patrols in forests around KUSA, BAYAN DUTSE and GUSAMI, BIRNIN MAGAJI LGA resulted in firefights but no confirmed casualties and the capture of 1 x AK47, 1 x AK 47 magazine, 13 x 7.62mm (AK), 2 x motorcycles, 4 x cows and 1 x machete. A suspected errand boy was detained in GUSAMI. Further patrols to MAGANAWA Forest resulting in a further engagement with 1 x bandit killed, 1 x local pistol, 1 x dane gun and 5 x rounds of ammunition recovered

28 June

Elements of 1 Div on Op Sharan Daji conducted clearance operations in GOBIRAWAN KWACHA, DANSADAU District, MARU LGA, ZAMFARA State, killing 3 suspected bandits, capturing 1 x AK 47, 1 x AK 47 magazine and 11 x 7.62mm (AK) rounds. 1 friendly vehicle was damaged

19 suspected kidnappers were charged before the courts in KADUNA State

NEMA distributed 15,000 bags of maize to 4,779 IDPs in GOMBE State via 14 centres across the 11 LGAs in the state

KADUNA State Police acting on a tip off arrested 10 suspected Boko Haram members in DOGAWARA, SABON GARI LGA near ZARIA, KADUNA State. The suspects were allegedly Darul Islam Sect members who relocated from NIGER State to the SAMBISA Forest before fleeing to DOGAWARA

Gunmen abducted the Sierra Leonean Deputy High Commissioner to NIGERIA, Nelson WILLIAMS, in KADUNA State as he went to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College from ABUJA. The kidnappers reportedly called at 4.00am to demand a N40m ransom

Suspected nomadic gunmen attacked HWAK KWATA Village, JOS SOUTH LGA killing 16 and HOSS, RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State killing 6 people and wounding 6. A warning was apparently delivered by the gunmen prior to the attack

Approximately 15 x suspected armed robbers attacked OKPOGA, OKPOKWU LGA, BENUE State killing 3 local vigilantes and wounding 3 others and robbing several homes

BENUE State NDLEA Commander Mrs Florence EZEONYE stated 164 males and 14 females had been arrested for drug offences and 68 convicted. 6, 086 kg of cannabis, 350 of psychotropic substances and 1.4g of cocaine were seized as well as 250 carton of ammunition on MAKURDI-ALIADE Road. The Agency had also destroyed one cannabis farm, counselled 81 and rehabilitated 26 people

Elements of Sector 1, MNJTF relocated its HQ to MAKARY, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region and conducted clearance operations in SAGUI, KIRTA WOULGO, GORE MAHAMAT, GORE BLANGAFE and DAMBOURE, losing 1 soldiers killed and 1 wounded by IEDs. 24 suspects were captured as well as 20 x outboard engines, 2 x motorcycles, 9 x generators, 1 x grinder, 1 x mobile phone, flags and ideological pamphlets. Commander MNJTF Gen ADEOSUN visited elements of Sector 2 MNJTF in temporary positions in LITTRI on Lake CHAD

29 June

A young male PBIED detonated in a video viewing centre where vigilantes were gathered in DJAKANA near LIMANI, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region around 9.00pm killing 12 and wounding 4

Commander Op Barkhane French Gen. Patrick BRETHOUS met Nigerien President ISSOUFOU in NIAMEY, NIGER Republic where he stated that Boko Harams threat has decreased but not been eradicated

3 Nigerians; Mustapha UMAR, Mohammed SHERIF and Ngare ISHAKA and 3 Camerounians Wazil ISMA, Baba TALBA and Ramat MOUSSA were charged before the YAOUNDE Military Tribunal accused of attacks on Amadou ALLI’s residence in KOLOFATA, MAYO SAVA Department on 27 July 2014 and attacks on KOUSSERI Gendarmerie Post, LOGONE ET CHARI Department. Speaking through Mandara and Kanuri interpreters, the accused pled guilty to 3 of the 4 charges denying involvement in the attacks on Amadou ALLIs’ house.
