Up to 12 gunmen mounted on at least 4 motorcycles attacked KANAMA, YUNUSARI LGA, YOBE State, attacking the Divisional Police HQ and looting shops of foodstuffs which were loaded onto 2 stolen vehicles. 3 policemen were wounded and 2 were reported missing

The NAF Director Public Relations and Information Group Captain Ayodele FAMUYIWA stated that the US would soon authorise the sale of Super Tucanos to replace Alphajets. He also state that additional Mi35 Attack Helicopters, JF 27 Thunder FGA and Super Mushack trainer aircraft were being acquired.

Boko Haram has displayed weapons and equipment captured from the raid on KANAMA on social media, showing at least 1 x Toyota Hilux, at least 11 x AK 47, 7.62mm (NATO) link, magazines, gas masks, boots, ammo boxes, clothing and other pieces of equipment

NSCDC arrested a suspected Boko Haram recruiter in ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State. The 56 year old man is also suspected of supplying arms and IEDS and having 3 children in the group

The BORNO State government has amended the curfew to run from 10.00pm to 6.00am

Elements of 26 Bn, 151 TF Bn, 155 TF Bn and 21 Bde conducted clearance operations in the vicinity of KIRCHA GONIYE, WUJJAH ALKELU, KITA JIDDUM, GERI GANA, GERE KURA, JABE, HASANA JERE and CHACHILE, BAMA LGA, BORNO State, 2 enemy were killed and 5 x dane guns, 2 x mobile phones, 3 x enemy flags, 1 x generator and several vehicles were captured.

Elements of 22 Bde Garrison in blocking positions intercepted several enemy mounted on motorcycles in the vicinity of SAMBISA Forest killing 1, capturing 3 x motorcycles, 1 x bag of cash containing N466,000.00 and rescuing 2 x females, 2 x girls, 3 x boys and an infant who was injured. They had been abducted from NGOSHE BARA Village, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State in 2015, taken to SAMBISA Forest, and forcefully married to Boko Haram fighters and then relocated to the Lake CHAD area

Gunmen attacked 122 TF Bn positions in YAMTEKE, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State from the direction of GALTHANI and BALANGAJE but were repelled and defeated

Elements of 117 TF Bn took 40 IDPs from MADAGALI, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State to BURNT BRICKS IDP Camp

38 men, 34 women and 62 children from ABADAM, arrived at NJIMTILO Checkpoint near MAIDUGURI. They were screened by Military Intelligence, DSS the NPF and CJTF

Elements of 3Bn, 22 TF Bde conducted a fighting patrol towards MUSKA Village, GAMBORU NGALA LGA, BORNO State acting on intelligence that enemy fighters defeated in CHUKUNGUDU and HAUSARI were moving there. 10 x enemy were killed and 2 captured. A woman and baby were liberated. 6 x AK 47 magazines, 56 X 7.62mm (AK), 1 x bundle of detonating cord, 1 x IED making manual, 2 x ammunition pouches, 1 x tablet, 2 x Nokia mobile phones, 1 x Digital Multimeter, 6 x SIM cards, 3 x memory cards, 1 x Airtel modem with memory card, 2 x motorcycles, 2 x Islamic books an 1 x wristwatch were recovered. Another 3 Bn fighting patrol towards WUMBI Village, KALA BALGE LGA recovered 157 x 7.62mm (NATO) rounds and 37 x 7.62mm (AK) rounds

Elements of 22 Bde Garrison intercepted 15 x IDPs going from MUDU KASA Village, NGALA LGA to DIKWA, DIKWA LGA,  BORNO State who stated that suspected Boko Haram sometimes armed with AK 47 and sometimes with machetes forcefully collected food and valuables from their village

Elements of 156 TF Bn, 29 TF Bde, supported by the CJTF conducted a clearance operation in the vicinity of YAJIWA, KAGA LGA, BORNO State in the ALAGARNO Forest clearing 8 enemy camps recovering 2 x IEDs, 3 x pressure plates, 1 x Type 36 Hand grenade, 2 x dane guns, 7 x motorcycles, 5 x empty 12.7mm cases, 1 x damaged mine detector, 1 x vehicle, 1 x Camelbak hydration system, 1 x vehicle top cylinder, 1 x 19.5 and 4 x 13 tyre rims, 1 x tyre, 3 x tyre jacks 2 x motorcycle tyres, 2 x solar panels, 2 x generators, 1 x grinding machine, 3 x water pumps, 1 x pesticide backpack and 1 x bag of fried groundnut cake. The IEDs were destroyed in a controlled detonation.

Up to 14 gunmen mounted on 7 motorcycles murdered 4 women in MAIRARI Village, MAGUMERI LGA, BORNO State, 14km from MAIDUGURI around 7.00pm. locals suspect the attack as targeted at the women’s husbands.

An 11 year old boy Musa SALISU was abducted from NA’IBAWA Quarters, KANO City, KANO State around 2.00pm. the kidnappers demanded a N500,000.00 ransom from the boy’s father 2 hours later

The corpse of Musa SALISU was discovered around 6.00am at KANO Eastern Bypass after the kidnappers informed the family where to find him. 2 suspects have been arrested

A Christian carpenter was allegedly attacked by 6 Muslim youths with bladed weapons in KADUNA, KADUNA State for reportedly eating during Ramadan

08 June

The KADUNA State SIB and the IGP Intelligence Response Team have arrested 4 people suspected of the kidnap and murder of Col Samaila YUNUSA in March 2016. Police first arrested Abdullahi ADAMU (a prison warder) who was using a mobile phone stolen from the victim, who led them to Ibrahim KABIRU (23 years old, aka UZTAZ), Precious EBELE (41 years old, aka PASTOR), Chijioke UGWUANYI (42 years old aka CJ) and gang leader Emeka Cyprian OKEKE. Police recovered 1 x AK 47, 2 x pistols, 1 x pump action shotgun, 1 x locally made pistol, 1 x dagger, 1 x laptop, 1 x Nissan Pathfinder and documents for 6 properties in ANAMBRA State which OKEKE allegedly bought with his criminal earnings. OKEKE reportedly confessed to the crime, stating they were car thieves and the Col was mistakenly killed during a struggle as he tried to disarm the thieves

The DSS in KANO State paraded 9 suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers operating in KANO and KADUNA States, recovering 2 x Makarov pistols, 1 x pump action shotgun, 37 x 9mm rounds, items of jewellery, brocade, wrappers and vehicles

A violent protest by students of Federal College of Education, Technical, GOMBE City, GOMBE State over poor water and power supply began around 8.00pm. Army and police responded around 2 hours later, leading to 2 students killed and 6 wounded. The school was closed.

The Federal University of Agriculture, MAKURDI has been shut down for 2 weeks in order to allow management to conduct an investigation into recent cult murders

The DSS has arrested 5 people from KOGI State in KANO allegedly heading to LIBYA, MOROCCO and other places to join Daesh

10 June

5 suspects in the murder of Bridget AGBAHIME were charged with incitement, culpable homicide and mischief at KANO Magistrates Court, KANO, KANO State. The suspects Dauda AHMAD, Abdulllahi ABUBAKAR, Musa ABDULLAHI and Zubairu ABUBAKAR. The alleged ringleader AHMAD could face the death penalty, hearing is fixed for 28 June. All plead not guilty, with 4 other suspects are still at large

05 June

Gunmen mounted in pick up trucks attacked BOSSO, DIFFA Region, NIGER Republic, with small arms, HMG and support weapons. The Mayor of BOSSO stated Boko Haram was in control of the town, which the Nigerien Government denied. Nigerien Defence Minister Hassoumi MASSAOUDOU, MNJTF Commander Gen Lamidi ADEOSUN visited the town and military positions in the area.

Elements of BTAP from ACHIGASHIYA conducted an operation in the vicinity of DOUGJE, MAYO SAVA Department near SANDA WADJIRI killing 3 enemy as they tried to withdraw

Gunmen attacked BOSSO again. The Nigerien Government held an extraordinary public meeting to discuss the attacks and declared 3 days of mourning.

Gunmen abducted 40 and murdered 10 Chadian fishermen from KINESSIRAM Village, CHAD in TOUBOUN ALI (DARAK), LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region in Lake Chad in a night attack
