Situation North East (Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States)

17 May

Elements of 7 Div supported by the NAF have cleared several camps in SAMBISA Forest, attacking ALAFA MAIN, ALAFA EXTENSION and ALAFA YAGA YAGA, BAMA LGA, BORNO State killing 15 enemy and then clearing the man objective NJIMIA Camp, rescuing 41 hostages, 2 x dane guns, several vehicles, motorcycles and bicycles

A combined 25 Bde and vigilante patrol in the vicinity of BA’ALE Village, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State on the outskirts of the SAMBISA Forest detained a group searching for food and firewood. One of the vigilantes recognised a female as Amina Ali Darsha NKEKI from MBALALA Village, who was abducted from GSS CHIBOK in April 2014 around 2.30pm. Miss NKEKI has a 4 month old baby named SAFIYA. Also detained was a man identified as Mohammed HYATU, her Boko Haram ‘husband’ who claims he was forcibly conscripted from MUBI. Miss NKEKI stated that 6 of the girls had died and the rest remained in the Forest and was examined at an NAF Facility and has been flown from DAMBOA to MAIDUGURI, where she was received by the BORNO State Governor and 7 Div GOC

YOBE State government states that the insurgency had cost the state up to N30bn since 2009, with 310,000 IDPs, 1098 health centres and classrooms destroyed, 5,162 vehicles and 109, 267 livestock

19 May

Elements of 231 Bn, 331 Artillery Regt, Armed Forces Special Forces, 2 EOD Team and BURATAI CJTF Vigilantes conducted clearance operations in the vicinity of SHETTIMA ABOH, HONG and BILADDILI, DAMBOA LGA, killing 35 enemy and capturing various items including at least 15 x dane guns, 1 x G3, at least 3 x AK 47, at least 1 x PKM, at least 1 x RPG round, 1 x improvised rocket, at least 3 x tear gas grenades, bows and arrows, webbing, ammunition and other kit, rescuing 97 women and children including Serah LUKA daughter of Pastor LUKA who claims to be a JSS1 student of GSS CHIBOK who was abducted from  MADAGALI, ADAMAWA State. She stated she and 3 other girls had fled from SHETTIMA ABOH during the Army’s attack and has been taken to ABOGO LARGEMA Cantonment Medical Facility, BIU.

Miss NKEKI, her daughter Safiya and her mother Binta flew to ABUJA FCT to meet President BUHARI. Her abductor HAYATU also accompanied them

The Presidency released a statement clarifying that HAYATU the forced companion of Ms NKEKI did not accompany her to ASO ROCK

Elements of 1 Bde on Op Mesa raided suspected cattle rustler camps in YAN MANGU Forest, in the vicinity of DANDINDIN Village, MARU LGA, ZAMFARA State arresting 2 suspects and recovering 1 x AK 47, 1 x AK47 magazine containing 7 x 7.62mm (AK), 3 x dane guns and 1 x motorcycle

21 May

KANO State Police received a mother of 3 named as Khadeja IBRAHIM around 11.00pm in HOTORO Quarters, KANO City, KANO State who claims she was abducted from a bus stop in MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, in a car containing by 3 people (2 males and 1 female), who she states drugged her and dressed her in suicide IED vest and informed her she was going to perform ‘Aiki Allah’/ Jihad. She states the car broke down and whilst the 2 males attempted to fix it she escaped. She states her target as meant to be KANTIN KWARI Textile Market

16 May

The BENUE State Government offered a reward of N5m for information on the whereabouts of the Vicar General of OTURKPO Catholic Diocese The Very Rev Fr John ADEYI who was abducted on 24 April from OKPOGA, OKPOKPWU LGA.

Suspected Fulani gunmen attacked TSE ATUE Village, GUMA LGA, BENUE State killing 7 people

19 May

BENUE State Police command presented a suspected cannabis trafficker Emmanuel OGWUCHE of NORTH BANK, MAKURDI, who was arrested in OTURKPO, with 10 x 25kg bags of cannabis in a Toyota Sharon bus, the driver fled

Gunmen abducted 2 members of the KOGI State judiciary. Timothy SALIHU was abducted in the vicinity of AYINGBA, DEKINA LGA, and Aliyu OKEME, on the IDAH-LOKOJA Road, in the vicinity of OJUWA OCHA, IDAH LGA near the OCHA Hills. A N50m ransom has allegedly been requested.

17 May

Suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked ZIM Village, ROPP District, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State around 7.30pm killing 1 and wounding 2 others causing the villagers to flee

Approximately 12 gunmen attacked OSARA Police Station, ADAVI LGA, KOGI State around 2.00am killing 2 policemen and wounding 2 others, burning a car, freeing an accomplice and stealing arms and ammunition in the 2 hour attack

18 May

Gunmen abducted a female motorist from her car around 4.00pm in the vicinity of KARAWORO, ADAVI LGA, KOGI State

20 May

Gunmen killed the Senior Special Assistant on Security of the BENUE State Governor Denen IGBANA late between 1- 2.00am along, NAKA Road, TIONSHA, MAKURDI, BENUE State as he drove home

Gunmen abducted the Chairman and Secretary of KWARA State APC along LOKOJA-OKENE Road, ADAVI LGA, KOGI State around 10.00am as they drove from ABUJA to ILORIN. The kidnappers requested a N50m ransom

Approximately 5 gunmen abducted Chief Aminu AKU a traditional ruler from ELETE, AJAOKUTA LGA, KOGI State around 8.30pm. A N10m ransom was requested from the family

Gunmen abducted a Naval Officer round 5.00pm in LOKOJA, LOKOJA LGA, KOGI State

The 2 KWARA State APC politicians abducted in KOGI State were released around 6.30pm. The NPF claimed to have rescued them whilst their families reportedly offered a N10m ransom
