2 soldiers from NA Engineers were arrested at YOLA Motor Park, YOLA, ADAMAWA State with unauthorised explosive materials. The 2 suspects Sappers Eric NWOKORIE (13NA/70/10183) and Macaulay FORTUNE (13NA/79/10263) were attached to 143 Bn and were found with 1 x smoke grenade, 2,136 x 7.62mm rounds, 50 x rounds x 7.62mm NATO, 5 x AK47 magazines, 2 x 12.7mm NATO, 1 x axe,1 x cutlass, 1 x knife, 9 x jungle hats, 11 x pairs of camouflage, 4 x military sweater, 1 x black beret, 1 x green beret, 1 x pair of Number 7 Dress, 2 x belts, 12 x Army T shirt, 2 x rain coats, 2 x water bottles, 1 x pair of rain boots and 5 x pair of desert boots

08 February

Gunmen attacked several villages in DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State killing 7 people

BORNO State Governor Kashim SHETTIMA stated that no LGA is under Boko Haram occupation

Army HQ states it is investigating all cases of misconduct, indiscipline, dereliction of duty and human rights abuses. They will also investigate the attack on DALORI

09 February

The Relief in Place of elements Op Lafiya Dole began with the deployment 242 Reconnaissance Bn, 9 Bde, 81 Div from IBEREKO Barracks, BADAGARY LAGOS to BORNO State to relieve an unspecified unit

Approximately 10 gunmen mounted on 3 x motorcycles attacked MUSARI, NGANZAI LGA, BORNO State burning it down and stealing cattle and valuables, displacing the population to GAJIRAM, NGANZAI LGA.

Elements of 212 Tank Bn, 29 TF Bde supported by the Brigade Quick Reaction Force (QRF) ambushed enemy forces at the Cattle Market in GWAI MAINARI, MAINOK, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State, capturing 8 x jerrycans of petroleum, oil and lubricants (POL), a large unspecified quantity of 7.62mm and 12.7mm ammunition, 5 x hand grenades and 4 x AK47s

Acting Director Army Communications Col SK USMAN stated that the Army will close illegal markets trading with Boko Haram in BORNO and YOBE States

Elements of the 7 Bde, MNJTF Quick Reaction Force (QRF) ambushed enemy forces at KEKENO, KUKAWA LGA, BORNO State killing 5 suspected enemy capturing 1 x Toyota Buffalo, 3 x AK 47, 2 x knives, 1 x horse and other weapons. The enemy was believed to be on a revenge mission for the killing of an Amir at KEKENO

Elements of 118 TF Bn on patrol in the vicinity of MILE 90 and KEKEN killed 1 x suspected Boko Haram and captured 2 others

Army HQ SF troops on patrol to YALE, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State cleared an enemy camp in the vicinity of BULAGANA, MARTE LGA, BORNO State rescuing 40 hostages. 1 soldier was wounded

151 TF Bn, 21 Bde engaged enemy forces whilst on patrol in the vicinity of BUDUMARI Village, ABADAMLGA, BORNO State killing 25 enemy and capturing 8, 1 x VW Golf and several motorcycles and bicycles. They also rescued 103 civilians and then cleared an enemy camp at BOLUNGU Village, rescuing 18 men, 90 women and 77 children and capturing 8 suspected Boko Haram

2 x female PBIED detonated in a food queue in the IDP Camp in DIKWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State killing 58 and wounding 78 people around 6.30am. A third female PBIED refused to detonate and fled but was captured after arousing suspicion from her distinctive hairstyle (done in a ponytail as opposed to plaits). The suspected PBIED stated he had been abducted from BOBOSHE, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State and used as a sex slave for a while before being sent by Boko Haram with 4 others to attack the camp. She apparently refused to detonate as she knew or suspected her parents were in the camp

10 February

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles and bicycles are reported to be aggressively patrolling DIBA, JEJE and HUYUM, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State

Gunmen attacked NGURTHLAVU, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State near HUYUM after an Mi 35 air strike

Media reports state that Army self propelled artillery has deployed from MUBI, MUBI LGA, ADAMAWA State to MANDARA mountains

Nigerian forces supported by the NAF attacked enemy positions in the vicinity of GUZAMALA, GUZAMALA LGA, BORNO State

Media reports state the EFCC has reportedly arrested AVM R.A. OJUAWO at NNAMDI AZIKIWE International Airport, ABUJA, FCT, as he accompanied the CDS to GERMANY. The DHQ Director of Information stated he was unaware of the incident

The BORNO State Government has warned that Boko Haram is circulating fake information that the State Government will pay people N6,000.00 once they show an original or photocopy of a PVC in order to cause them to congregate and create easy targets for IEDs

11 February

The Army has requested the EFCC to investigate 3 x serving Maj Gen, 1 x retied Maj Gen, 3 x Brig Gens, 4 x Colonels and 1 x Lt Colonel in relation to fraudulent arms purchases

Gunmen attacked SHUWARI Village, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State killing 4 people around 10.30pm, stealing foodstuffs and burning the village

In a media interview German President Joachim GAUCK stated his government would support NIGERIA’s anti Boko Haram effort and assist with IDPs and that the EU would support with $50m

Elements of BIR attacked an enemy IED factory in the vicinity of NGOSHE, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State whilst elements of 25 and 26 TF Bde occupied blocking positions to the west. 1 Camerounian soldier was killed and 27 enemy, with 2 x vehicles and several motorcycles destroyed and some weapons captured

121 TF Bn advanced to MARARRABA, ANGWAN FADA, DALE, WIZHA, BOKKO TIMIT, BOKKO NASANU, BOKKO HIDE, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State making safe 5 x IEDs buried in the road, clearing SINO Village and enemy camps and positions until they linked up with the Camerounians in NGOSHE, liberating 17 women and 28 children and killing 10 x enemy. The PULKA-MARARRABA-NGOSHE Road had been deliberately cratered

The CDS Gen Abayomi OLONISAKIN, Maj Gen Clement OLUKOJU (CDS Principal General Staff Officer), Maj Gen Lincoln K OGUNEWE (Chief of Plans and Policy), Rear Admiral I.O. MOHAMMED (NN), Air Commodore Aminu YAKUBU (Defence Attaché Washington DC) and Col E.J. AMADASUN (Assistant Director Operations) met Gen David RODRIGUEZ, Commander US AFRICOM and his component Commanders in STUTTGART, GERMANY for a 2 day meeting on strategies for security cooperation, focussing on counter terrorism, joint operations, logistics and maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea.

12 February

President BUHARI stated he will partner with ECCAS and ECOWAS to delay with the threat of terrorism in the LAKE CHAD area, after receiving note from President Obiang MBASOGO of EQUATORIAL GUINEA’S Special Envoy Juan NCHUCHUMA

Approximately 30 gunmen attacked KRICHINGA, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State around 10.00am stealing up to 1,000 x cattle, 70 x sheep and 40 x goats and taking them to SAMBISA Forest

13 February

The YOBE State Government stated that no part of the state is occupied by Boko Haram

The NIGERIA Ports Authority donated 150 mattresses, 500 blankets, 200 jerrycans of vegetable oil 100 bags of beans, 100 bags of millet and 1,500 mats YOBE State

Acting Chairman GUJBA LGA stated that residents of WAGIR, NYAKIRE, MUTAI, BUNI GARI, GUJBA, KATARKO and GARIN ITACE had returned to their homes, although the military had not authorised return to BUNI YADI

Gunmen mounted in pick up trucks and on bicycles attacked YAKSHARI Village DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State around 9.30am killing 22 people with bladed weapons, stealing cattle and foodstuffs and burning the village

Gunmen attacked AJIGIN, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State and were engaged by CJTF vigilantes

08 February

Gunmen mounted on 3 motorcycles abducted an 80 year old woman Hajia Hauwa Beli MANU from her home in MUTUM BIU, GASSOL LGA, TARABA State around 9.00pm killing one of her neighbours during the attack. The kidnappers demanded N300m from her son the States Deputy Governor Engr Haruna MANU

Approximately 15 x suspected cattle rustlers attacked YARKASUWA Village, KURAMAM Chiefdom, KAURU LGA, KADUNA State around 1.30am abducting 3 women and 5 men after a 3 hour firefight

09 February

Hajiya Hauwa Beli MANU was freed by her abductors returning home around midnight. She stated she was well fed and treated and then released alongside BALI/ MUTUM BIU Road, finding her way home from there, it is unclear if a ransom was paid and if so how much

10 February

NIGER State Police Command stated it had arrested 202 suspect that they had cleared kidnappers from MASALACIN ZAKI Forest MASHEGU LGA, NIGER State after a firefight fatally wounding 1 and arresting 2 others and recovering 2 x AK 47, 134 x rounds of ammunition and 2 x motorcycles. They also stated they had arrested 3 x cattle rustlers in SABON GADA Village, KATEREGI LGA, NIGER State, recovering 62 cattle stolen from ZAMFARA State. An Armed robber was arrested in KEREGI Village in KATEREGI Forest, KACHA LGA recovering a locally made firearm and 21 x rounds of ammunition and another in NGONGO LGA, KANO State who had been operating in WUSHISHI. 2 other kidnappers who had operated in EDATI, EDATI LGA were also arrested. They also arrested a 9 man gang of armed robbers operating along MINNA-SULEJA-ZARIA Road capturing 2 x locally made firearms, 1 x single barrelled firearm, 1 x dane gun, 40 x arrows, 2 x vehicles and 2 x motorcycles

11 February

Suspected Fulani gunmen attacked OKOKLO, OLOGBA, UTUKOLUGWU and OWETO Villages in AGATU LGA, BENUE State around 10.00am killing 6 people (4 in OKOKOLO and 2 in OLOGBA) in a sustained 10 hour attack

Gunmen attacked GUNGUN ABDULLAHI, IBBI LGA, TARABA State killing 1 person

12 February

Suspected Jukun gunmen attacked on GIDAN SARKIN NOMA, IBBI LGA TARABA State at 12.00am resulted in the death of a family of 7.

The FCT Police Command has formed a Special Anti Robbery Unit to tackle armed robbery, highway robbery etc

13 February

A Communal clash between GWANI and KINAFA Villages, YAMALTU DEBA LGA, GOMBE State resulted in 12 people injured from KINAFA including the District Head

03 February

Several hundred IMN members conducted a 4 hour demonstration from FAGGE Mosque to DANGI Junction Roundabout via ZARIA Road over the continued detention of their leader Sheikh EL ZAKZAKY

The NSCDC SOKOTO State Command has stated it is deploying officers to border posts in ILLELA, GUDU, TANGAZA and SABON BIRNI LGA bordering NIGER Republic in order to stem illegal arms smuggling

09 February

The DSS announced that they had broken up several suspected Daesh cells over the past month.

On 17 January: DSS arrested a final year university student Abdussalam Enesi YUNUSA in KANO, KANO State on suspicion of recruiting people to fight for Daesh in LIBYA with 3 others Muhammed RABI’U, Yahaya Momoh JIMOH and a female Zainab SUNDAY. YUNUSA was studying Information and Media Technology at Federal University of Technology, MINNA, NIGER State. The DSS states he was a member of a cell consisting of 2 people currently training with Daesh in LIBYA (IBRAHIM and Abubakar LIGALI) and named fellow Daesh agents as AMINU and Ibrahim JIHADI, funded by Abu-Sa’ad AL SUDANI using money transfers.

Also on 17 January: they arrested 7 suspected Ansaru members in DAURA, DAURA LGA, KATSINA State (Ibrahim Mohammed DAURA, Zaharadeen SALISU and 5 others) allegedly preparing for attacks in KATSINA and KANO States.

On 22 January: Obansa SALAMI, Ejide TIJANI (aka UWAISE II), Mohammed RABIU (UBIDA II), Zainab MOHAMMED and Abdulqadir Salisu AHMAD were arrested in KANO, KANO State as they prepared to go to LIBYA to join Daesh with their families including children.

On 29 January: DSS arrested 17 year old, Mohammed Aliu NDAKO in KWARA State an undergraduate who allegedly planned with another suspect Abdulkadir Salisu AHMAD (aka Daddy Tall) a student in KANO State to conduct lone wold style attacks on religious and recreation venues and had been communicating with foreign extremist elements online.

10 February

189 IMN members were remanded at KADUNA Magistrates Court, to KADUNA Prison over the 12 December clashes with the Army on charges of inciting public disturbance, unlawful and illegal blocking of State and Federal Roads and illegal possession of dangerous weapons. The case was adjourned until 29 March 2016

The CAS AM ABUBAKAR commissioned several projects at NAF KADUNA, KADUNA State such as an extended runway, new control tower, residential blocks, classrooms etc

13 February

An EU and ONSA run course on Civil Military Cooperation complete at NIGERIA Army Peacekeeping Centre, JAJI, KADUNA State. The training covered rules of engagement for combat and peacekeeping operation covering searches, media relations, command and leadership and more for over 150 students from the NAF, NPF, NA and DSS and 38 community leaders.

Chief MAINA, traditional ruler of AMCHIDE, KOLOFATA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region has been arrested by the Camerounian Army on suspicion of supporting Boko Haram
