Situation Friendly Forces

24 January

Troops conducted a clearance operation in the vicinity of CHUKUN GUDU, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State killing 1 suspect and injuring several others and capturing 2 double barrel shotguns, 4 x 9mm rounds, 1 x solar panel and mechanics tools

31 January

Nigerian forces engaged enemy forces in the MANDARA Mountain, supported by artillery and air strikes

01 February

Elements of 112 Bn and Army HQ Special Group conducted a fighting patrol towards GARDAWAJI, ADASHE, MIJIGINE, MAMAWARI, SIGAFARIYA, BULA GOMA, MAFA DIKWA and KALE BALGE, making contact in the vicinity of BOBOSHE and MOWA KASUWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO state where the enemy held a Monday market (in BOBOSHE) killing 56 enemy, capturing 8 x AK47, 3 x RPG rounds, 7 x mortar tubes, 1 x grenade 3 x 60mm (?) mortar bombs, 18 x motorcycles and vehicles. 520 hostages were rescued and brought to DIKWA IDP camp

Op Lafiya Dole spokesman stated that elements of 25 TF Bde conducted a clearance op towards AJIGIN, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State, engaging enemy forces killing several and capturing 3 x vehicles and 50 x motorcycles and rescuing an unspecified number of hostages

Op Lafiya Dole spokesman stated that troops detained 42 people armed with 6 x AK 47 and 15 x magazines, along DAMBOA CHIBOK Road claiming to be the Village Head of KOPCHI and vigilantes from MADAGALI LGA, o their way to arrest a Boko Haram suspect in KAYA, DAMBOA LGA. They were arrested and detained for interrogation

Op Lafiya Dole spokesman stated that elements of 103 Bn conducted clearance operations along the KAURI axis to MAIMIARI Village intercepting 17 Boko Haram suspects and rescuing several abducted women and children who they took to an IDP camp in KONDUGA

Op Lafiya Dole spokesman stated that elements of 151 TF Bn conducted a fighting patrol from BANKI Junction to NGUROSOYE and BULAMANJARI Villages, BAMA LGA, BORNO State maintaining a blocking position to prevent enemy escape

02 February

Elements of the NPF conducted a public skills display in ABUJA, FCT, with demonstrations by Counter Terror Police and Working Dogs

The NAF conducted an airstrike against an enemy logistics base in the vicinity of GARIN MOLOMA, BORNO State using an armed UAV, which was conducting an armed ISTAR mission approximately 1km north of SAMBISA Forest. Secondary explosions appeared to indicate it was an ammunition or fuel dump

03 February

President BUHARI addressed a special session of the EU Parliament in STRASBOURG, FRANCE and held talks with the President of the EU Parliament Martin SCHULZ and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude JUNCKER

Suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked EGA ADAPTI Island, AGATU LGA, BENUE State around 10.00am along the banks of the River BENUE killing 7 people burning, houses and farmland

01 February

IEDS were discovered near the BORNO State Pilgrims Welfare Board office, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, they were made safe by a Police/ military EOD team

Gunmen attacked GONIAMBARI Village, KAGA LGA, BORNO State 15km south of BENISHEIKH around 6.30pm with small arms and IEDs killing 6 people, burning properties and looting foodstuff and livestock

02 February

2 x PBIEDs detonated 100m in front of a checkpoint in MUNA DALTI Ward, JERE LGA as they attempted to infiltrate MAIDUGURI through

Gunmen attacked BULABULIN UMARARI and MUNA Garage, JERE LGA 2km from MAIDUGURI, BORNO State

05 February

Gunmen mounted on approximately 10 x bicycles attacked MAIRI Village, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State around 8.30pm killing 4 people and burning houses in the village. They then moved onto MALARI Village, however the inhabitants had fled, soldiers from ALAU Dam counter attacked but the enemy had retreated along the ALOMARI-MAFA Road.

06 February

Suspected Fulani gunmen attacked TOM ANYIIN and TOM ATAAN Communities, MBAYA and TOMBU Villages, BUKURU LGA, BENUE State killing 1 people and wounding 25, causing local people to be displaced towards MBATIE

Gunmen attacked MADAKAR, MAYO MOSKOTA Arrondissement, MAYO TSANAGA Department, EXTREME NORD Region killing 3 people

31 January

A male PBIED mounted on a motorcycle detonated at a vigilante checkpoint at the market in GUITE Village, HADJER LAMIS Region CHAD killing 1 and wounding 32.

A 2 x female PBIED detonated in MITERINE, LAC Region, CHAD, as they tried to enter a fish market, they aroused the suspicion of the traders and then ran away detonating amongst a group of children killing 6 (including 4 children) and wounding 24.

01 February

The Italian Prime Minister Matteo RENZI met with President BUHARI in ABUJA, FCT and signed an agreement on intelligence sharing, the Chief of the Italian National Police Alessandro PANSA and the IGP Solomon ARASE signed an agreement on capacity building and provision of logistics for the NPF

Approximately 50 gunmen attacked ASHIGASHIYA, LOGONE ETC CHARI Department, in the morning but were repelled by elements of BTAP killing 15 enemy and capturing 2

AU Peace and Security Council Chief Samail CHERGUI stated that donors had pledged $250m towards the anti Boko Haram operations, with $110m from NIGERIA, 50m Euros from the EU, UK and SWITZERLAND

02 February

Gunmen abducted 5 women working in their farms in the vicinity of TOLKOMARI, MAYO SAVA Department in the afternoon

03 February

SWITZERLAND clarified that if had not contributed to military operations against Boko Haram as that would violate its neutrality but had given $12m to humanitarian efforts

04 February

A PBIED detonated in CAVAYE Quarter, KERAWA, MAYO SAVA Department killing 2 and wounding 2

Gunmen abducted a man and his herd of cattle in the vicinity of TOLKOMARI, MAYO SAVA Department

2 x PBIED detonated in NGUETCHEWE, MAYO MOSKOTA Arrondissement, MAYO TSANAGA Department killed only the attackers and wounding 1 person

06 February

Gunmen attacked NDJINOUBA, HILE ALIFA Arrondissement, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region killing 5 and burning the village
