Situation Friendly Forces

11 October

The BORNO State Government stated they would partner with the Federal Housing Authority to rebuild destroyed homes

The ADAMAWA State Emergency Management Agency stated that all IDP camps in the state will be shut by the end of December 2015, with the 3 major camps at NYSC Orientation Camp, MALKOHI and FUFORE currently housing less than 2,000 people

Op Safe Haven spokesman Captain Ikedichi IWEHA has issued a warning that Boko Haram is suspected of seeking to detonate IEDs in market places, relaxation centres, motor parks in JOS, PLATEAU State

13 October

Nigerian troops patrolling in the vicinity of MONGUNO, MONGUNO LGA, BORNO State arrested a man with 20 litres of petrol hidden in polythene bags allegedly siphoned from his car, while he was heading towards suspected enemy camps

The IGP of Police Solomon ARASE stated that 2 men Abdulazeez MUHAZAB (27) and Isiaka SALIHU (25) had been detained on suspicion of organising the IED attacks in FCT on 02 October and planning another attack. Captured with them were 12 x IEDs contained in soft drink cans, 28 x electronic detonator parts and a large quantity of bomb making equipment

IDPs identified and detained a suspected Boko Haram member at BOLORI Junction off BAGA Road, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, the man a tea seller called ABDULLAHI was handed over to the military for allegedly leading an attack on their village

The Victim Support Fund presented a N20m cheque to JOS University Teaching Hospital to assist in dealing with victims of the insurgency

15 October

A General Courts Martial sitting in ABUJA, FCT has sentenced Brigadier General Enitan RANSOME KUTI to 6 months in prison and dismissed from the Army on charges relating to the fall of BAGA. One charge of Failure to perform military duties (for failing to counter attack) and Miscellaneous Offences relating to service property (for losing weapons and equipment to the enemy). One charge of cowardice was dropped. Brig Gen RAMSOME KUTI denied all charges, the sentence is yet to be ratified

The Borno State Commissioner of Education stated that the repatriation of 4,979 refugees from CAMEROUN had disrupted the current academic session

16 October

Elements of 3 Bde, attached to Op Salama in JIGAWA State have detained 10 x suspects with180 x empty jerrycans and 40 x jerry cans filled with 33,000 litres of petrol, which were suspected of being sent to SAMBISA Forest. The suspects (including some Nigeriens) were arrested at a petrol station in BIRNIWA LGA near the JIGAWA-YOBE border. Also recovered was a fuel tanker and a Land Cruiser

The COAS Lt Gen TY BURATAI has issued a statement, saying ‘the next few days would be crucial to…NIGERIA’. Hinting of an impending action

Governor SHETTIMA of BORNO State visited 16 reconstruction projects in KAGA LGA. NEMA delivered 450 tons of building materials, clothes, bedding and food stuffs for delivery to 25 towns and villages damaged in the insurgency in DIKWA, BAMA, KONDUGA and KAGA LGA, BORNO State. GWOZA and ASKIRA UBA LGA are planned for the next phase. The Ministry of Rehabilitation has also moulded 750,000 blocks in BAMA

A suspected Boko Haram agent was detained in CUSTOMS District, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State

A delegation from the UN Counter Terrorism Committee led by Weixiong CHEN visited NSCDC HQ in ABUJA, FCT, where the Commandant General stated over 10,000 personnel had been trained in counter terrorism in ISRAEL, ITALY, PAKISTAN and NIGERIA

Situation Enemy Forces

13 October

Gunmen mounted on pickup trucks attacked GAJIRAM KUKAWA LGA, BORNO State. Elements of 5 Bde ambushed them in the vicinity of NGOLLOM Village, killing 10 and capturing 1 gunman as well as 1 x AAA Gun, 5 x AK47, 1 x FN FAL rifle, 2 x Machine guns, 1 x PK machine gun, 1 x RPG tube 8 x AK 47 magazines, 1 x Toyota Landcruiser, 330 x 7.62mm NATO Link rounds

Gunmen engaged soldiers as they conducted an intelligence driven cordon and search operation in the vicinity of ENIKE Mosque, ENIKE Street, OKENE, KOGI State around 5.30am, that was allegedly being used to store weapons by a groups reportedly called ‘MALAM BABA Terrorist Group’. The information as reportedly provided by 2 sect members who were captured during the attack on the DSS offices in LOKOJA. 2 suspects and I soldier were killed in the firefight with an unspecified number of wounded. 1 x RPG and some ammo cases were recovered.

3 x PBSIED attacked AJILARI CROSS District, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State around 7.45pm killing 7 people and wounding 11. 1 x PBSIED detonated in GIDAN SHANU behind BAKASSI Estate the second in ZAJERI and the third in BULUMKUTU.

15 October

2 x male PBSIEDs detonated in a mosque in MOLAI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State, 15km from MAIDUGURI, around 6.30pm killing over 42 people and wounding several. The first PBSIED detonated in the mosque, while the second detonated as rescuers gathered round.

16 October

3 x female PBSIEDs attacked UMARARI MOLAI Village, KONDUGA LGA, 15 km south of MAIDUGURI, BORNO State around 5.30am killing 7 people and wounding 22 others. Villagers captured one suspected insurgent who fled into the bush back towards SAMBISA Forest

17 October

Gunmen attacked DAR, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State around 8.30pm causing villagers to flee into the bush, where 2 x female PBSIEDs detonated killing 12 people

Gunmen attacked GUBLA Village, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State stealing a military vehicle carrying foodstuffs

Situation External Forces

11 October

2 x female PBSIEDs attacked KANGALERI, MORA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN. The first PBSIED detonated at an eatery around 6.00am killing 10 and wounding 29 the second detonated killing only herself. A third female suspect is being sought

Gunmen attacked LABADO, MORA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN. 2km from KANGALERI but were repulsed by Camerounian forces

12 October

A PBSIED detonated in SERADJI KERAWA at 9.00am killing themselves and wounding one other.

13 October

Approximately 90 US troops have deployed to GAROUA, NORD Region, CAMEROUN to set up a Base Operating Support Integrator (BOS-I) to coordinate the planning and execution of ISR missions

Gunmen attacked KERAWA, KOLOFATA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, reportedly searching for an informant. One person was wounded

Amnesty International has opened an office in ABUJA, FCT in order to focus on its campaigns and research and mobilise the countries civil society according to Office Director M.K. IBRAHIM.

14 October

US President Barack OBAMA has announced that 300 US troops would deploy to CAMEROUN to conduct ISTAR tasks with MQ-1 Predators in the area ‘until no longer needed’

Gunmen attacked KERAWA, KOLOFATA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, to harvest crops in a field, 1 person was wounded and another missing

US AFRICOM Commander Gen David RODRIGUEZ visited President BUHARI in ABUJA, FCT, who thanked him for US Training team and equipment

NIGER Republic has declared a 15 day State of Emergency in DIFFA Region, allowing security forces to impose curfews and restrict movement

Gunmen attacked GOUZOUDOU Village, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region killing a vigilante

Camerounian forces from RASS engaged gunmen in the vicinity of the Nigerian border, inflicting several dozen casualties. Enemy forces reportedly withdrew to KALABALGUE, near DABANGA, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region

15 October

Media reports state that the contract to supply an ISR system to CAMEROUN is worth $9.4m and will consist of 6 x ScanEagle UAVs, training and a years support of trainers, parts, maintenance and force protection

Gunmen robbed a pharmacy in KOSSA, MORA Arrondissement, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region

16 October

US Africom Commander Gen RODRIGUEZ visited Camerounian President Paul BIYA in YAOUNDE, CAMEROUN accompanied by US Ambassador to CAMEROUN Michael HOZA. They later attended a ceremony handing over 6 x MRAPs to CAMEROUN

17 October

Gunmen ambushed a BIR patrol in the vicinity of WAMBECHE, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region, killing the LIMANI Sector Commander

Vigilantes have detained 12 Nigerians suspected of being Boko Haram members in LIMANI, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region
