The DSS states it has identified a Boko Haram spy network operating t NNAMDI AZIKIWE International Airport, ABUJA, FCT. A 14 year old boy Sulaiymon ABDULRAMAN (aka Sunday AJAYI) had been arrested for allegedly spying on the airports security procedures, the boy stated he had been directed by a person known as Dauda SADIQ (aka Peter)

26 August

Sani HALIRU of DUTSEN KURA Village TSAFE LGA, ZAMFARA State, a suspect in the killing of an officer and 6 soldiers in BAKURA Forest, GUSAU LGA, ZAMFARA State was detained at SULTAN ABUBAKAR III International Airport, SOKOTO, SOKOTO State, as he attempted to leave the country for Haj. HALIRU is alleged to be a leader of a cattle rustling gang operating in ZAMFARA, KATSINA and KADUNA State. He was trailed from ZAMFARA State to SOKOTO by 2 Military Intelligence officers and has been detained in 1 Bde HQ, SOKOTO

NEMA has evacuated 500 people from isolated communities in DIKWA LGA, BORNO state due to insurgent activity in the area isolating them from resources. The evacuees are camped at SANDA KYAMIRI Camp, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, 4,500 remain in DIKWA

28 August

BORNO State Ministry of Health stated that over 500 cases of diarrhoea had been recorded in 22 IDP camps in the state

The Executive Secretary of the BORNO State Primary Health Care Management Board stated that 500 medical and health personnel had been trained in psychosocial care to assist traumatised IDPs

Elements of 25 Bde supported by the NAF cleared SANDIA, KOKAKOWA, MIYATI and NYALERI Villages, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State along MAIDUGURI-BULABULIN-DAMBOA Road, capturing an enemy Amir, commander and foot soldier, Peugeot pick up truck, 10 KVA Lister generator gas cylinders, borehole pump, 3 x bags of maize 1 x bag of millet and 13 x jerrycans. They also discovered and destroyed an IED factory in the vicinity of MIYATI and NYALERI Villages.

29 August

An NAF Dornier Do 228 (NAF 030) on a routine flight to ABUJA, FCT crashed at RIBADU Cantonment (NDA Old Site), KADUNA, KADUNA State, around 6.45am, approximately 10 minutes after taking off from NAF KADUNA. 3 crew and 4 passengers were killed

Gunmen attacked MAFURNUDI, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State with small arms and bladed weapons around 4.30am, killing 24 people and wounding 8, stealing foodstuffs and burning the village

A female PBSIED detonated at Central Motor Park, DAMATURU, YOBE State around 7.30am, killing 6 people and wounding 41

A male PBSIED detonated in POMPOMARI, DAMATURU, YOBE State killing only himself. The attacker fled into the bush when challenged detonating himself

President BUHARI and President Boni YAYI of BENIN Republic met in ABUJA, FCT where they discussed security cooperation and economic integration

A male PBSIED mounted in a Keke NAPEP detonated at a checkpoint at AIRPORT Junction, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State around 10.00pm, killing a soldier, the bomber and a female accomplice and injuring a female civilian as they were challenged for a search

27 August

Gunmen attacked KAFA, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State killing 4 fishermen and throwing them into the river

Local officials state that suspected cattle rustlers attacked MANAWA, DANGWANDI, TSAIKA, KAGARA and DOGON HANO Villages in ISA LGA, SOKOTO State several days earlier, killing 4 people, burning houses and silos and stealing at least 112 cattle and 852 goats and sheep.

28 August

Gunmen mounted on horseback attacked BAANU Village, NGANZAI LGA, BORNO State around 8.30pm killing 68 people and wounded several others. Fleeing residents stated that Boko Haram had taken over most villages in the vicinity

29 August

The SOKOTO State Police Command states it has set up a special unit to tackle cattle rustling in the State. Comprised of NPF and MOPOL they will reinforce ISA and SABON BIRNI Police Divisions

A Chadian Court in N’DJAMENA has convicted 10 Boko Haram suspects of criminal conspiracy, murder, wilful destruction with explosives, illegal possession of arms and ammunition and using psychotropic substances and sentenced them to death by firing squad

Chadian authorities executed the 10 convicted Boko Haram terrorists in N’DJAMENA, CHAD by firing squad around 11.00am

6 suspected Boko Haram terrorists infiltrated DJAOUDE Village, PETTE Arrondissement, DIAMARE Department, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN but were chased out by villagers, the suspects reportedly headed for MOGONE Village
