31 July

Army Administrator (Military Secretary?) has ordered all accused and condemned soldiers to report to a committee in KADUNA State between 07 and 24 August to screen and assess all disciplinary cases from Op Zaman Lafiya

02 August

Media reports state that the Army is reviewing the cases of recent disciplinary actions taken against several hundred soldiers. Director Army Public Relations stated this was in response to ‘a wave of litigation and petitions by some aggrieved personnel’

03 August

Elements of 21 Bde and 151 TF Bn conducted operations in the vicinity of AULARI, BAMA LGA, BORNO State supported by air strikes, clearing enemy camps in the vicinity of FADAN, SHUWARI, WULARI, NGORO DAUYE, JIDORI, ALIKASHIRI, KALZAMARI SHUWA, KALZAMARI KANURI and other locations, liberating 101 children, 67 women and 10 men and capturing 3 enemy flags and an enemy commander and destroying 5 x motorcycles

04 August

Hunters in ADAMAWA State gathered in RIBADU Square, YOLA, ADAMAWA State asking for assistance with weapons, vehicles and allowances from Governor Muhammad JIBRILLA

The Centre for Crisis Communication, an ABUJA, FCT based NGO state that Boko Haram has approached them to enter a genuine and comprehensive dialogue with the Federal Government

Elements of 7 Div have cleared 5 IEDs from GWOZA YAMTEKE Road.

Hunters from GOMBI and GULAK detained 3 suspected Boko Haram members in GULAK, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State

05 August

NEMA stated that CAMEROUN is to repatriate 12,000 Nigerian refugees, who will be housed at MUBI, MUBI LGA, ADAMAWA State

BENUE State Police Command stated that they had arrested 10 suspected armed robbers after trailing them to their hideout, several were wounded and their leader known as Chemical was killed in the firefight

Vigilantes detained 4 suspected Boko Haram members in the vicinity of MALARI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State after 2 were handed over by their parents who led them to 2 others in the bush

06 August

Elements of 7 Div detained a suspected fuel supplier to Boko Haram named as Mai MUSTAPHA at JEHU, near JAKANA Village KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State and a man named MADU who allegedly supplied food. Also seized were 15 cows, 174 goats and a donkey from suspected cattle rustlers.

Maj Gen BURATAI met with the National Human Rights Commission Executive Secretary Prof Ben ANGWE and assured him that there will be no human rights violations under his command

Elements of 7 Div conducting clearance operations in the vicinity of DIKWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State found ana arms cache containing 5 x drilling machines, 1 x filing machine, 2 x cutting machines, 1 x disc file, 52 x compact discs, 9 x RPG warheads, 7 x charges, 1 x 105mm pack howitzer and 1 x BMG stand

07 August

The British Deputy Chief of Defence Staff on Military Strategy and Operations Gen Gordon MESSENGER visited the CDS Maj Gen Gabriel OLONISAKIN and reiterated the UK’s support for NIGERIA’s efforts against Boko Haram

President BUHARI stated that he has directed the MoD to produce an action plan for a self sufficiency in military equipment and logistics

8 suspected Boko Haram members surrendered to vigilantes in the vicinity of MUSSA, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State around 4.00pm stating they were tired of killing innocent people. 6 are reportedly from GWOZA, GWOZA LGA, BORNO State. They were handed over to the Army at MUBI

08 August

The CAS AVM Sadique ABUBAKAR stated that 16 more NAF platforms will be deployed to YOLA, ADAMAWA State. He did not specify the types or roles, but stated some would move from PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS State (which would be Mi 24s)

12,000 refugees were screened by security agencies at MUBI IDP Camp prior to onward movement to MAIDUGURI

The Gen Sani ABACHA Specialist Hospital, DAMATURU, YOBE State received a N20m cheque from the NIGERIA Foundation for the Support of Victims of Terrorism

02 August

Gunmen attacked KOBALCHUWA Village, MADAGALI LGA, ADAMAWA State killing 8 people

A Fulani man was robbed and killed along KEANA-OBI Road, KEANA LGA, NASARAWA State, by suspected Fulani bandits the man known as Alhaji SIMPLE was a leader of the Fulani community in KEANA LGA

3 Fulani men were abducted and murdered in the vicinity of SHO Village, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State and their bodies dumped by the BARKIN LADI JOS road. They were reportedly from SAMINAKA KADUNA State on a visit to relatives

03 August

Gunmen attacked MALARI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State killing 9 people and then moved onto KALERI, SHETIMARI, KAMMIR, KAKURAMI, AUWLARI and BURARI Villages, locals had already fled after hearing the MALARI attack

Gunmen attacked a Fulani village SHO, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State killing 18 cows belonging

04 August

Gunmen attacked BITA, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State (west of GWOZA) but were defeated by friendly forces supported by the NAF Alphajets. The NAF also stated that they were conducting armed reconnaissance along BITA-GWOZA Road via YAMTEGE, HAMDAGA, DURE and PULKA.

Gunmen ambushed 2 vehicles containing 17 fishermen heading from MONGUNO to BAGA, in the vicinity MADUWARI Village, KUKAWA LGA, BORNO State killing 9 of them. The second vehicle escaped raising the alarm, soldiers from BAGA responded killing 13 of the attackers and capturing a 4 wheel drive as well as the fishermen’s van

Gunmen abducted a 3 year old Fulani girl from her mother heading to BARKIN LADI, along TAFAWA BARKIN LADI Road in the vicinity of TAFAWA village, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State. She was rescued by elements of the STF and Birom community leaders in KASA, BARKIN LADI LGA.

Gunmen attacked GAJIBO, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State but were repelled by elements of 7 Div

Gunmen attacked a mosque in ANGWWAN KATARKO, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State around 5.30am during morning prayers, but were repelled before causing casualties

05 August

Suspected Fulani gunmen attacked a Fulani settlement in OBI, OBI LGA, NASARAWA State killing 8 people and wounding 5. Locals allege that the attack might be retaliation for the murder of Alhaji SIMPLE

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles attacked TADAGARA Village, FIKA LGA, YOBE State with small arms around 10.30pm killing 9 people and then moved to DUNBULWA, however the locals had already fled

Gunmen attacked KATARKO, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State around 12.30am shooting up the house of the Fulani Mai Anguwa, (community leader) damaging several vehicles but causing no casualties

Gunmen attacked GADAKA, FIKALGA, YOBE State forcing residents to leave. Friendly forces counter attacked the next day supported by 3 aircraft defeating them

07 August

Gunmen attacked DUMBULUWA, FIKA LGA, YOBE State, but were repelled by friendly forces losing 8 attackers, with 2 vigilantes wounded by IEDs

08 August

Gunmen ambushed a vehicle in the vicinity of KASSA Village, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State carrying cattle to market in BUKURU, JOS SOUTH LGA, PLATEAU State, killing the cattle owner and wounding the driver

03 August

Gunmen mounted in trucks attacked TCHAKARMARI and KANGALERI Villages, MAYO SAVA Department, around 1.30am killing 9 people including several vigilantes, 135 people were also abducted and the village burnt down

Camerounian authorities arrested 2 suspected terrorists allegedly disguised as female refugees in the MINAWO Refugee Camp, MAYO TSANAGA Department, EXTREME NORD Region

04 August

A delegation from the US Congress Judicial Committee met with the Service Chiefs and MoD officials at the National Defence College, ABUJA, FCT and Congressman Darrell ISSA on of their members stated that the US could increase their support if alleged war crimes were investigated and perpetrators punished.

Chadian forces supported by mercenary piloted Su 25s recaptured DOLA and LAR KIMI, LAC Department, CHAD. Nigerian Navy SBS and Army units provided a block with armed gun boats from YEBI JEMI and DORON GOWON, KUKAWA LGA, BORNO STATE

05 August

Guinean President Alpha CONDE, offered to provide assistance in the fight against Boko Haram whilst in NIAMEY, NIGER Republic

Gunmen mounted in boats attacked TCHOUKOU DALLAH Island, Lake CHAD but were repelled by Chadian forces who claimed to have killed 7 and wounded several others

06 August

The US Special Envoy and Coordinator for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications Rashad HUSSEIN arrived ABUJA, FCT for a 2 day visit with President BUHARI and other officials, members of civil society and religious leaders

07 August

Gunmen attacked GASSAMA, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region between DABANGA and MALTAM. 2 vehicles were burnt and 4 soldiers and a motorist went missing until found the next day

08 August

Up to 70 abductees from TCHAKAMARI escaped from TALLA GOUBDO Village, NIGERIA, and were received by Camerounian security forces and vigilantes
