26 July

Elements of 7 Div recaptured DIKWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State, killing 20 gunmen and capturing 10 x rifles, AAA guns, GPMGs, 1 x Techno phone an 3 x MTN SIM cards

Nigerian forces destroyed enemy camps along DIKWA-MAIDUGURI Road in the vicinity of FALJARI, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State destroying 5 x VBIEDs, 4 x motorcycles, 1 x Toyota Hilux with an AAA gun mounted on it 1 x AAA gun, 1 x GPMG, 3 x AAA gun barrels, 1 x box of AAA ammunition, 1 x Ak 47, 1 x solar panel and 3 x SIM cards. 20 gunmen were reported killed as well

The leader of the Shia sect Islamic Movement of NIGERIA Sheikh Ibrahim EL ZAKZAKY claims that he was trailed by an unmarked Hilux from JERE KAGORO Junction and then stopped by armed soldiers at a checkpoint at War College, BWARI, FCT and then were chased to SHERATON Junction Checkpoint. The Army responded that a convoy of 6 vehicles from the Islamic Movement of NIGERIA refused to stop at a checkpoint on the ABUJA KADUNA Road, it was finally stopped by patrols in the vicinity of JERE and BWARI where it was searched and released around 10.00am

27 July

120 suspected members of the Sura Suka gang and other suspected criminals were charged to court by the NPF at the KADUNA State Magistrates Court One for various crimes such as terrorism, rape, homicide, armed robbery and others President BUHARI stated that the NAF had insufficient aircraft for task during media interview

Clearance operations in the vicinity of DIKWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State by elements of 7 Div rescued 21 children, 7 women and 2 elderly males from KWAYABE and WUFE Villages

Presidential Spokesman Garba SHEHU stated that a Boko Haram faction had approached the Government for negotiation

28 July

Gen OLUKOLADE stated in an interview with AFP that the MNJTF will soon be operational

A soldier opened fire in DAMATURU, YOBE State causing panic. No casualties were reported and the soldier was arrested.

The Federal Governments Victim Support Fund has allocated N140m for 7 hospitals in the North East with 2 each in GOMBE, ADAMAWA and BORNO States and 1 in YOBE State receiving N20m and another in YOBE to be added later on in order to allow victims of the insurgency to be treated free of charge

The NAF seized 4,000 drums and jerrycans of petroleum products in PEPE, DASHIN HAUSA, BELEL in MAIHA LGA, BILACHI in FUFORE LGA and KONKUL Villages in SONG LGA, ADAMAWA State, along the NIGERIA-CAMEROUN border, which were identified by aerial patrols over land and water.

The KANO State Police Command also paraded Hauwa MUSTAPHA from KANO, KANO State, suspected of leading a 5 man armed robbery gang who allegedly robbed a victim in DANBARE QUARTERS, KANO were arrested in JOS, PLATEAU State, with some of their loot, 2 x locally made pistols, a knife and 9mm live ammunition who was first convicted for renting a flat for the kidnappers Obi MIKEL Senior in 2011, several weapons were found in her possession such as AK 47s (numbers unspecified)

KANO State Police Command paraded Yahaya SALE (aka NARIGASA) from SOBA Village, HUKUYI LGA, KADUNA State, arrested 21 July 2015, for alleged cattle rustling and armed robbery with his 10 man gang during an operation in FALGORE/ GOMO Forest, DOGUWA LGA, KANO State which resulted in the death of 1 of the suspects and the recovery of 197 cows. Also paraded was Zubairu GARBA and Sunday JATAU of KADUNA State, who were arrested along ZARIA Road on 23 July 2015 with 2 x locally made guns and 19 cartridges on suspicion of armed robbery along the KANO-ZARIA-KADUNA Road. Further items recovered include a pump action shotgun and police uniforms. A final suspect Taju KABIRU of ZAJE QUARTERS, KANO was arrested on suspicion of an attack in which 11 people were stabbed, 1 of whom died at MURTALA MOHD Hospital Mosque on 19 July 2015.

29 July

Elements of 7 Div freed 29 women, 25 children and 5 elderly male captives from enemy camps at WALIMBERI, KASHIMRI and AMARMARI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State some of whom were from KAWURI, KONDUGA LGA and stated they were abducted the previous week. Troops also captured a tipper truck and Landrover

President BUHARI visited Camerounian President Paul BIYA in YAOUNDE, CAMEROUN, with the Governors of ADAMAWA, AKWA IBOM, BENUE, BORNO CROSS RIVER and TARABA States, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and The Director General of The National Intelligence Agency. Both Presidents noted with satisfaction the weakening of Boko Haram and pledged increased security cooperation

Elements of the KADUNA State Joint Task Force (Op Yaki) have recovered 150 stolen cattle in BIRNIN GWARI, BIRNIN GWARI LGA, KADUNA State and arrested 6 suspects after a firefight in the forest

An IED was found in BAGA Road Fish Market, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State and defused by NPF EOD.

30 July

Nigerian forces rescued 12 women and girls from KILAISA (90km southwest of MAIDUGURI), BORNO State

NIGERIA and CAMEROUN are to complete the demarcation of their land boundary by this year

A 50 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of planting 16 IEDs at BAGA Road Fish Market, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State, a kolanut seller had observed him laying the devices

KADUNA State Police Command announced it had raided the house of Bulus KINZE and James KINZE in KOGUN, JEMA’A LGA, KADUNA State allegedly being use to supply and manufacture arms for criminals. The NPF recovered 2 x locally made AK 47s (?), 1 x locally made submachine gun, 2 x locally made pistols, 2 x AK 47 magazines in police colours, 1x locally made AK 47 magazine, 20 x 0.36 revolver ammunition, 3 x 7.62mm NATO rounds, 11 x 7.62mm short (AK47) rounds, 3 x cartridges, 1 x 5.56mm round, 14 x 7.62mm short shell casings, 17 x 0.36 shell casings, locally made AK 47 parts, other rifle parts, hand drills and other machine tools and charms. Also paraded were 18 suspects led by Umar USMAN (aka ZIDANE) who had been arrested in DANGWA Village, KACHIA LGA after a firefight between GODODO and JAGINDI Road, SANGA LGA, in which 1 x AK 47, 1 x single barrel shotgun, locally made pistols and 4 vehicles were recovered.

Gov LALONG of PLATEAU State met with Alhaji Idris GIDADO of GASHISH District and Pam GYANG Fulani and Birom leaders respectively in RIYOM and BARKIN LADI LGAs to discuss the persistent conflict between the two

The KWARA State Police Command paraded 4 suspects in a kidnapping in OMU ARAN, IREPODUN LGA, KWARA State. The 4 suspects from RORE Village were detained with a Toyota Camry, a localy made single barrel gun, 4 x cartridges, 2 x empty cartridge cases and stated that they had been paid N50,000.00 each for the kidnapping. Also paraded were 3 armed robbery suspects who were allegedly part of a 10 man gang who robbed a lady of N650,000.00

Elements of 151 Task Force Bn destroyed enemy camps at KASHINGERI, WALE and KUSHINGARI KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State.

Elements of 21 Bde supported by Army Engineers cleared enemy camps at CHUOGORI and SHANTUMARI KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State, clearing underground silos

Former CDS AVM BADEH stated that saboteurs affected the fight against Boko Haram and that the military was underequipped and demotivated for the conflict. He did not specify what actions were taken to counter the ‘saboteurs’ or motivate or equip the military.

31 July

ADAMAWA State police Command announced the arrest of 4 suspected kidnappers in YOLA. They were detained with 2 x AK 47 rifles and 60 rounds of ammunition. They are accused of the kidnap of several politicians and their relatives.

Gen ABBAH took over command of the MNJTF in a ceremony in ABUJA, FCT.

President BUHARI ordered the Head of Service of the Federation to release the N5bn to the Victim Support Fund that was pledged by the FGN in August 2014

01 August

President BUHARI visited COTONOU, BENIN Republic, to celebrate their 55th Independence Day with the Governors of OGUN, KEBBI and LAGOS States. Beninois President Boni YAYI stated that 800 Beninois troops would join the anti Boko Haram effort once there was a UN Security Council Resolution

Elements of 7 Div have discovered an IED factory in the chemistry lab of DIKWA College of Education, DIKWA, DIKWA LGA, BORNO State. Also captured were 4 x Toyota Hilux, 1 x welding machine and 1 x mine detector.

Maj Gen BURATAI has set up a new motorcycle Battalion that would act as a Recce unit in operations in the North East

26 July

A clash between Fulani and local youths in KAKAKPANGI Village, KATCHA LGA, NIGER State over Fulani Sallah celebrations which reportedly extend longer than normal and involved the display of dangerous weapons. A suspect has been arrested

A pre teen female PBSIED detonated at the entrance to a market in DAMATURU, YOBE State around 9.30am killing 22 and wounding 50 people

27 July

Gunmen attacked BUNDARAM, FISHDAM and KWATAR MALI, KUKUWA LGA, BORNO State (5km from DORON BAGA) around 4.00pm. The attackers murdered 4 fishermen in BUNDARAM, 2 in FISHDAM and 4 in KWATAR MALI with bladed weapons. These were 3 of 5 villages considered clear of Boko Haram

Gunmen entered DORON BAGA, KUKUWA LGA, BORNO State but left after locals expressed displeasure reportedly camping at DAWASHI, KUKUWA LGA

Gunmen mounted on 5 x Toyota Hilux and motorcycles attacked DILLE, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State, south of SAMBISA Forest around 2.00pm with small arms and petrol bombs killing 31 people and injuring 25. Soldiers pursued them to the bush killing 11

Gunmen attacked BURATAI, BIU LGA, BORNO State around 9.30pm but were repelled by soldiers garrisoning the town

Gunmen attacked RARIN SHO Village, RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State killing the Village Head and a young boy

28 July

Gunmen attacked BURATAI, BIU LGA, BORNO State around 3.00am but were repelled by soldiers garrisoning the town

Gunmen attacked 2 villages, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked motorists in the vicinity of the ODOBA Hills along OTUKPA ENUGU Road, OKPOKWU LGA, BENUE State but were engaged by Police Safer Highway Patrol Teams who captured 2 and recovered a pump action shotgun and some cartridges, several other suspects reportedly fled wounded, all the victims were unharmed.

29 July

31 July

Approximately 30 gunmen attacked KUKUWA GARI, GUJBA LGA, YOBE State around 10.00pm killing 10 people and wounding 3 before they were repelled by local hunters who killed 5 attackers after they had set fire to the village

A PBSIED mounted in a Keke NAPEP tricycle detonated at the entrance to a market in MAIDUGURI, BORNO State around 7.30m killing 6 and wounding 11 people

Gunmen mounted on a motorcycle attacked a supermarket in ZAKI BIAM, UKUM LGA, BENUE State, around 10.00am killing up to 8 people and injuring 3 others

01 August

Gunmen attacked MALARI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State around 10.30pm killing 13 people, wounding 27 and burning some houses

Boko Haram released an 8 minute video in which they showed day and night attacks on positions, captured armoured vehicles and artillery pieces, murdered a captured unarmed policeman and claimed they were still in the fight. The spokesman spoke Hausa in Kanuri dialect

Gunmen attacked MIDI KOUTOU Island, LAC Region, on LAKE CHAD resulting in 6 enemy killed and 15 wounded and a Chadian soldier killed. Many women and children were reportedly abducted

Gunmen attacked KATIKINE Village, LAC Region, CHAD abducting 30 people, who were taken away in 4 speedboats

Gunmen mounted in motor boats attacked MEDI, LAC Region wounding several Chadian soldiers, who killed 13 attackers

A female PBSIED detonated in a bar in MAROUA, DIAMARE Department, EXTREME NORD Region killing 21 people and injuring 85. 3 alleged accomplices on a motorcycle reportedly escaped

Approximately 12 gunmen attacked a Police checkpoint in BALAZA, 3RD Arrondissement, MAROUA, DIAMARE Department, EXTREME NORD Region 23km from MAROUA stealing 2 x motorcycles and several weapons. Elements of BIR pursued them killing 1 attacker.

Gunmen attacked MADAKA, DIAMARE Department, CAMEROUN killing a policemen

26 July

Gunmen attacked AFADE, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region around 11.00pm, burning a Gendarmerie Post and stealing 4 motorcycles, murdering 3 prisoners (1 of whom was a captured insurgent), wounding a Camerounian soldier and losing several enemy killed. 4 soldiers and 3 policemen were reported missing but were found the next day.

The fighting age European male arrested in the vicinity of TSINGA Mosque, YAOUNDE, CAMEROUN has been released, no explosives or suspicious items were found, however Camerounian Police assert the man is of a military bearing.

Gunmen engaged Camerounian security forces in the vicinity of DIGUIR and MADAKA, between BALAZA and BOGO, DIAMARE Department, EXTREME NORD Region, CANEROUN, resulting in one civilian killed and a Camerounian serviceman injured

Gunmen attacked TCHEBE TCHEBE, ZELEVET, VREKET and DZABA Village, MAYO TSANAGA Department burning land and a church, beheading 3 people and stealing

Gunmen attacked DZAMA and MOGODA, MAYO MOSKOTA Department, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN

The Governor of EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN Midjiyawa BAKARI has ordered the closure of mosques and Islamic schools and the removal of all child beggars in the wake of the suicide bomb attacks. A security meeting by the Lamido of MAROUA requested that al Koranic Schools, mosques and foreign tenants must be registered. Curfew from 8.00pm to 6.00am has also been ordered.

Cameroun stated that it would deploy 2,000 more troops to EXTREME NORD Region to combat Boko Haram

30 July

Camerounian authorities detained 3 male suspects in 1st Arrondissement, one of whom (aged approximately 15 years) allegedly from BAMA with a bag of explosives in MAROUA, following a tip off. His accomplices Bachirou BELLO (22 years old) from DOUALARE District, MAROUA and Hamadou YAOUBA (aged 18 years old) from PETTE, DIAMARE Department, EXTREME NORD Region had Camerounian ID cards. A suspected accomplice named as Bana GONI is being sought.

Chadian forces claim to have killed 117 Boko Haram in a 2 week operation to clear Lake CHAD islands and to have secured 4 main enemy positions on the islands. They state they have lost 2 men with several wounded, have seized several boats and weapons.
