Media Spokesman to President BUHARI Femi ADESINA stated that the Federal Government is not averse to negotiating with Boko Haram

05 July

NEMA and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) released the June Displacement Tracking Matrix which has 1,385,298 displaced persons in the North. BORNO (1,002,688), YOBE (125,484), ADAMAWA (113, 437), BAUCHI (76, 504), GOMBE (16, 984) and TARABA (20,501). The report stated that 92% live within the host communities and 8% in camps, 52% were female, children under 18 were 56% of the total and 95% were displaced due to the insurgency

06 July

The COAS, Lt Gen Kenneth MINIMAH visited MAIDUGURI, BORNO State for Army Day celebrations where he stated that Court Martials would continue to be used

The military released 182 Boko Haram (100 men, 40 boys, 24 women and 18 children) suspects into the care of the BORNO State Government at MAIMALARI Cantonment, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State after they were cleared of any involvement with the sect.

The Nigeria Army adjourned the Court Martial of Brig Gen J.O. KOMOLAFE and 21 others at 9 Bde, IKEJA Cantonment, LAGOS, LAGOS State due to the ongoing NADCEL celebrations.

The KADUNA State Police Command charged 115 members of a criminal gang known as Yan Sara Suka to court on charges of criminal conspiracy, terrorism, possession of hard drugs and culpable homicide.

07 July

The KADUNA State Government banned street hawking and begging in response to the attacks in ZARIA

The Governors of KADUNA, KEBBI, KATSINA, NASARAWA, NIGER, BENUE and PLATEAU States and the deputy Governor of ZAMFARA State met with the Chief of Defence Staff, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the DSS and Commandant General of the NSCDC in the Ministry of Defence, ABUJA, FCT to discuss the security situation. The Head of Civil Service of the Federation Danladi KIFASI who represented the President stated that insecurity in the north will be tackled

08 July

Media reports claim that Boko Haram has offered to exchange 219 GSS CHIBOK abductees for 16 prisoners in captivity via negotiations with certain clerics and elders according to an activist Fred ENO. He claims negotiations along the same lines failed 2 months ago when the DSS stated they only had 4 of he requested prisoners in custody

The Pharmaceutical Society of NIGERIA, BORNO State Chapter donated N13m to IDPs in the state

09 July

Elements of 3 Div, STF and DSS have detained the person allegedly responsible for the attacks in JOS and GOMBE with two others at a checkpoint in DADIN KOWA, YAMALTU DEBA LGA, GOMBE State hiding in a trailer.

10 July

Media reports state that the negotiations referred to by Fred ENO do not involve the Government

Medview Airlines flew the first commercial flight to MAIDUGURI, BORNO State in 18 months landing at 2.00pm with 82 passengers

11 July

The NIGER State Government has imposed a 10.00pm to 4.00am curfew on PAIKO LGA

A land dispute led to fighting between MAZZA and TSWACHIKO Village, AGAIE LGA, NIGER State leading to 5 dead and 11 wounded, 2 vehicles, 18 motorcycles and several domestic animals were burnt

05 July

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles attacked KOKEYA Village, BIRNIN MAGAJI LGA, ZAMFARA State killing 2 people, burning houses and stealing cows and food stuffs

A PBSIED detonated in Shagalinku Restaurant, BAUCHI Road JOS, PLATEAU State killing 23 people.

Gunmen attacked YAN TAYA Mosque, DILLIMI Street, off ABUCHI Road, NASARAWA GWON, JOS NORTH LGA, PLATEAU State with PBSIEDs, small arms and handheld explosive devices killing 21 people and wounding 47. The attack was initiated with an IED and then gunmen opened fire with rifles and an RPG, the National Chairman of the Izala sect cleric Sani Yahaya JINGIR was preaching at the mosque but was unhurt.

Gunmen abducted a woman and child from her home in ZUMA Village, KAGARKO LGA, KADUNA State and allegedly taken to KAGUNI Village, they have allegedly requested a N4m ransom

A male PBSIED detonated in Redeemed Christian Church of God, BAUCHI Road, JIGAWA District, YOBE State around 10.00am killing 6 people

Approximately 50 suspected nomadic gunmen attacked a funeral in IMANDE BEBESHI, MOON Ward, KWANDE LGA, BENUE State killing 1 person and injuring several others

06 July

2 churches were burnt by people protesting against the Sunday attack on a mosque in JOS, PLATEAU State. Military checkpoints have been restored in the state.

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles attacked CHIGAMA Village, BIRNIN MAGAJI LGA, ZAMFARA State killing 30 people, burning houses and stealing cows and food stuffs

Gunmen attacked MUSSA, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State killing 10 people or the loss of 3 attackers, 3 rifles were also captured locals have been displaced to GOMBIO

A suspected female PBSIED detonated near UMAR BIN KHATAB Mosque, ZARIA Road, KANO, KANO STATE around 9.30pm, killing only herself. Her device detonated a she crossed the road heading towards the mosque

07 July

A female PBSIED detonated at a checkpoint near a market along GOMBE Road in SABON GARI District, DAMBOA, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State around 10.30am killing 5 people including 2 vigilantes and injuring several others. Some reports state there were 2 female PBSIEDs amongst the dead

Boko Haram allegedly threatened to kill a journalist Adeola AKINREMI by email sent on 10 May, the email was signed Abu Musab ABUL BARNAWI

An IED detonated in GOGARAWA, SABON GARI LGA, KADUNA State around 10.00am at the Local Government Secretariat followed by a small arms attack by 3 men killing 25 people and injuring 32 who were there for a verification exercise

08 July

Approximately 50 cultists attacked and burnt down 3 houses in MAKURDI, BENUE State around 1.00am

6 gunmen were reportedly killed when their vehicles detonated an explosive device in the vicinity of MOLAI, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State. 2 others were injured and captured.

09 July

Wilayat Gharb Afriqiyah- Daeshs ‘West Africa Province’ faction of Boko Haram has claimed the suicide attacks in N’DJAMENA, CHAD, via pro Daesh social media. The statements included images of the attackers identified as Abu Hamza AL ANSARI and Abu Sadiq AL ANSARI. Another statement also claimed the explosion in the safe house that killed Chadian policemen, naming the attacker as Abu Omar al Ansari.

Gunmen mounted in 11 Toyota Hiluxes and several motorcycles attacked BUNI YADI, GUJBA LGA, YOBE State with small arms, crew served weapons and IEDs around 9.00pm, killing 9 people and burning and looting properties the attack was repelled. Reinforcements mounted in an APC supported by aircraft approached the town the next day

A suspected hand grenade detonated near the FRSC State headquarters, NUMAN Road, YOLA, ADAMAWA State. 4 young boys reportedly tried to sell the device to a scrap metal dealer but were rebuffed. The device reportedly began smoking and then detonated injuring 1 boy. Two were detained by the FRSC and claimed the device was given them by 2 men in BAUCHARE District, who allegedly paid them N2,500.00, other reports state the boys found the device in a rubbish heap

10 July

Gunmen attacked MANGA District, MONGUNO, MONGUNO LGA, BORNO State

Boko Haram/ DWAP have released a 10 minute video featuring a firefight with Nigerian soldiers, in which they use crew served weapons, mortars and improvised projectile weapons, the video also shows the bodies of dead vigilantes and a dead soldier and captured weapons and vehicle and the murder by beheading of an unarmed prisoner who appears to be a Nigerian soldier.

Gunmen murdered 8 people who returned to GAMBORU NGALA, NGALA LGA, BORNO STATE to inspect their properties

Gunmen have attacked NGAMDU, KAGA LGA, YOBE State killing 10 people

11 July

Gunmen mounted in 3 Toyota Hiluxes set up illegal checkpoints along MAIDUGURI-DAMATURU Road between NGAMDU and BENISHEIK in the vicinity of JAKANA, KAGA LGA, killing 11 people and burning several vehicles. They were defeated by troops mounted in 4 X APCs who destroyed all 3 vehicles

Protests by the Gwari Community in PAIKO Town, PAIKORO LGA, NIGER State over the appointment of an Imam for PAIKO Central Mosque led to fighting with the Hausa Community leaving one dead and several wounded. Several houses and vehicles were burnt.

Suspected nomadic gunmen attacked DAN ANACHA, GASSOL LGA, TARABA State killing 4 people and wounding up to 20 others. The attackers were allegedly avenging the death of a Fulani man who they claimed was murdered by Tivs while riding his motorcycle in the bush.

An IED allegedly carried by a passenger in a Keke NAPEP detonated around 7.00am near the Welcome to MAIDUGURI Gate and DSS office, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State. The device detonated as an 18 seater bus was leaving BORNO Express Terminus Motor Park, killing  the driver and passenger and wounding 3 bystanders.

Gunmen attacked MEROM Village, MAMDI Department, LAC Region, CHAD with small arms and bladed weapons killing 13 people and burning the village

05 July

Gunmen attacked TISKRA Village, LAC Region, CHAD slitting the throats of 13 camel herders

07 July

Gunmen mounted on 4 pickup trucks and several motorcycles attacked BIR positions in BODO, in the vicinity of FOTOKOL, LOGONE ET CHARI Department, EXTREME NORD Region around 3.00am. 24 attackers were reportedly killed with no Camerounian losses. An unspecified number of motorcycles and rifles were captured, Chadian forces allegedly pursued the attackers across the border

08 July

11 July

A male PBSIED allegedly disguised as a woman in a burqa detonated at the South Gate of the Central Market, N’DJAMENA, CHAD around 8.30am killing 15 people and wounding 74. The DWAP Boko Haram faction has claimed the attack on Twitter naming the attacker as Abdullah ABU BAKR

2 x suspected PBSIEDs detonated in the vicinity of DJARMAYA, CHARI Department, CHARI BARGUIRMI Region, CHAD on the DANDI-DJIGUERE Road, killing both and wounding a passerby
