23 June

President BUHARI reversed the directive to remove military checkpoints in BORNO, ADAMAWA and YOBE State.

The Governors of NIGER, KADUNA, KEBBI, SOKOTO and ZAMFARA State are to meet to discuss ways to combat armed bandits operating across the States. The bandits are reputed to be using a KAMUKU Forest that straddles all 5 states and BENIN Republic.

25 June

The KANO State Upper Sharia Court, RIJIYAR LEMO, KANO, KANO State has sentenced Tijaniya followers Sheikh Abdul NYASS, Hajiya Mairo IBRAHIM and 7 others to death for blasphemy under Section 110 and 382b of the Sharia Penal Court Law 2000 after a secret trial. Sheikh NYASS was arrested for comparing the leader of his Tijaniya sect Sheikh NIASSE to the Prophet Mohammed. 4 others Alkassim ABUBAKAR, Yahaya ABUBAKAR, Isa ABUBAKAR and Abdullahi ABUBAKAR were found not guilty

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign affairs Ambassador Bulus LOLO stated that the Federal Government has set up a panel to investigate Amnesty International’s allegations

The Chief of Army Administration Maj Gen Adamu Baba ABUBAKAR presented cheques to 62 next of kin of fallen Nigerian soldiers

President BUHARI met with the President of the ECOWAS Commission Kadre Desire OUEDRAOGO to discuss greater regional cooperation between ECCAS and ECOWAS and set a new date for the ECOWAS-ECCAS Security Summit.

26 June

The NDLEA in KADUNA State announced that it has arrested 89 persons, destroyed a cannabis farm in KACHIA LGA and seized over 15 tonnes of illegal drugs (cannabis, rohypnol, cough syrup, tramadol and heroin) between January and June 2015

18 June

Gunmen attacked KADUNA Electric Staff members returning to KADUNA from BIRNIN GWARI along TSHOWAR GWARI- FUNTUA Road, in the vicinity of TSHOWAR GWARI wounding 3. The attackers were thought to be armed robbers.

22 June

2 x female PBSIEDs detonated around 4.00pm at BAGA Road Fish Market, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State. The first detonated as she approached a mosque killing up to 30 people, the second appeared to flee before detonating killing only herself

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles and pick up trucks attacked the twin villages of DEBIRO (DEBIRO HAWUL and DEBIRO BIU) in HAWUL and BIU LGA, BORNO State with small arms, crew served weapons and bladed instruments around 12.30am killing approximately 22 people, looting shops and burning the village. They returned the next day killing another 17 and wounding 20, who were burying those killed earlier.

23 June

A female PBSIED detonated in the KASUWAN HATSE grain market in WAJIR, GUJBA LGA, YOBE around 11.00am killing at least 10 and wounding 20 people. The female was described as appearing to be about 12 years old.

24 June

Gunmen abducted an Argentinean employee of Nigerian Flour Mills plc Santiago Lopez MENENDEZ on KONTAGORA Road, in the vicinity of MASHEGU, MASHEGU LGA, NIGER State as he was travelling to MOKWA

25 June

A suspect claiming to be Ghanaian was detained in DAMATURU, YOBE State from a nearby village was detained whilst allegedly spying on an IDP Camp

27 June

A suspected male PBSIED detonated outside General Hospital, MOLAI, KONDUGA LGA BORNO State around 4.00pm. He and 2 others were allegedly dropped off by an SUV (or came on tricycles according to other reports) pretending to be visitors, whilst being searched the device on one of them detonated killing him and another suspect, 2 security men and a passers-by and wounding 12 others. The third suspect was captured and handed over to the authorities.

A suspected female PBSIED prematurely detonated around 4.20pm while attempting to board a vehicle to MAIDUGURII in JAKANA, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State, a second suspect was killed by the blast with her device intact

Gunmen attacked 2 vehicles on the JOS ABUJA Road, in the vicinity of HAWAN KIBO, RIYOM LGA, PLATEAU State killing 2 people, wounding 7 and burning 2 vehicles and 20 cattle. The victims were cattle traders who had bought the livestock from BUKURU Market

Media reports state that a new sect has come into existence at GWADANGWAJI, BIRNIN KEBBI LGA, KEBBI State. Called YANLABAIKU (or YANLOKOLOKO), the group espouses non violence and is led by Bala AMADU and Ismaila LOKOLOKO. Other than contradicting several tenets of Islam such as praying 5 times a day, being against western education and allegedly compelling an Imam to resign over religious difficulties they are reportedly peaceful

23 June

Camerounian President BIYA invited President BUHARI to visit CAMEROUN after Ramadan via the Camerounian Minister for Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, Sadi Rene EMMANUEL.

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles and horses attacked YEBI, DIFFA Prefecture, NIGER Republic killing 5 people and burning the village.

Nigerian security forces arrested two suspected arms smugglers after a firefight 40km southwest of ARLIT, ARLIT Department, AGADEZ Region NIGER Republic and captured 3 utility vehicles carrying military equipment such as RPGs, 3,000 rounds of ammunition and 3 sets of military uniform. The occupants of 2 vehicles escaped on foot and the other drove off with its headlights turned off

24 June

Nigerien forces claim to have tracked down and killed 15 Boko Haram and taken 20 prisoner in operations conducted between 18 and 23 June and destroyed an armoured vehicle, 2 food and fuel caches and 26 motorcycles for the cost of one soldier lightly wounded.

The British High Commissioner stated that the British Government was working on a plan with NIGERIA to tackle insecurity, corruption and boost the economy

The Nigerien National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) stated that human rights violations were ongoing under the State of Emergency in NIGER Republic, mentioning the forced evacuation of Lake CHAD islands, arbitrary detentions and torture.

Gunmen attacked a vehicle around 2.00pm in the vicinity of MICHITIRE, on Route Nationale No 1 between DABANGA and WAZA killing one person

25 June

The US presidency has invited President BUHARI to meet US President OBAMA at the White House on 20 July to discuss a holistic, regional approach to combatting Boko Haram.

Chadian soldiers raided GAMBORU, NGALA LGA, NIGERIA, from FOTOKOL, CAMEROUN, capturing several suspected Boko Haram members

26 June

Media reports state that the US missionary Rev Phyllis SORTOR was freed after a ransom was paid by family and friends, with the permission of the US Government. $300,000 was allegedly requested but the family state much less was paid.

27 June

Camerounian authorities expelled 17 Chadians without papers from PETE and 30 from KOUSERRI to CHAD
