Vigilantes in NGULDE, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State ambushed suspected insurgents killing 15 and capturing 1 x AK 47 and several vehicles

The General Courts Martial of MJNTF commander Brig Gen Enitan RANSOME KUTI, his chief of Staff Lt Col G.A. SURU, CO 134 Bn, Lt Col HARUNA and CO 174 Bn Major ALIYU began in relation to the loss of BAGA.

Nigerian forces destroyed 7 enemy camps (ROGO FULANI, LARAGA and 4 in ALAFA), in SAMBISA Forest and rescued 25 women and children. Friendly forces captured RPGs, AAA guns and an unspecified number and type of vehicles. 4 soldiers were reported wounded

The NIGERIA Red Cross Society has distributed relief materials such as detergent, body cream, bathroom slippers, mosquito nets, cooking pots, lanterns, stoves and clothing donated by UNHCR to IDPs in POTISKUM (1,000), DAMATURU (1,000), DAMAGUM (500), GADAKA (250) and FIKA (250) in YOBE State

NEMA and YOBE State EMA are repatriating 6,000 Nigerians from NIGER Republic back to NIGERIA via GEIDAM, GEIDAM LGA, YOBE State. The refugees had been on KARAMAGA Island in Lake CHAD and were reportedly from TARABA, BENUE, ZAMFARA KEBBI, SOKOTO, ADAMAWA, KANO, JIGAWA, BAUCHI and BORNO States. The returnees consist of people settled and working as fishermen or traders in NIGER and refugees from the insurgency.

The Senate passed for 2nd reading a bill that would establish a National Agency for the Great Green wall and to help communities deal with desertification and environmental degradation and minimise conflict between pastoralists and farmers particularly in BENUE, NASARAWA and PLATEAU States. YOBE State Government asked the Federal Government to refund N15bn it claims to have spent providing logistic support to the security forces

Vigilantes ambushed insurgents in HIANG KUKURIYI Forest in the vicinity of HIANG, HAWUL LGA, BORNO State around 10.00pm reportedly killing 29 of them. The insurgents were allegedly moving from SAMBISA Forest towards YOBE and GOMBE State in a convoy of Toyota Hiluxes and motorcycles and were attacked as they rested at a fish farm by 5 hunters the surviving insurgents reportedly fled towards

The NAF CAS Air Marshal Adesola AMOSU stated that the NAF had established a FOB in MUBI and would establish two others in MONGUNO and BAMA at the 51st Anniversary Celebration of the NAF in ABUJA, FCT. He stated attack helicopters will be based there. He did not specify type or number.

Nigerian forces cleared an enemy camp in SAMBISA Forest, capturing weapons, ammunition, communication equipment and video recordings of murders, attacks, plans and life in the occupied areas.

BORNO State government has evacuated 1,200 refugees from GEIDAM, YOBE State in a convoy of 17 mass transit buses to an IDP Camp in NJIMTILO, MAIDUGURI, BORNO State. The returnees are half of the reported 2,400 refugees from BORNO repatriated from NIGER

Gunmen murdered 4 Kutebs and 1x Jukun along VINGIR Road in the vicinity of LOKO in between KWALI and GBAAONDO Villages, BENUE State, mutilating the bodies. The men’s wives who were spared claimed the attackers were Fulani

Suspected Tiv militants’ murdered 2 men and 3 women on motorcycles in the vicinity of AGE on the BARRACK- DOGON GAWA Road, TARABA State

Militants ambushed a commercial vehicle on DOGON GAWA-KATSINA ALA Road killing 7 Tiv passengers

A Tiv woman was hacked to death whilst on the DOGON GAWA-KATSINA ALA Road, the woman’s son who survived the attack claimed the attackers were Kutebs and Fulanis

Approximately 5 gunmen murdered a former politician in TIIR, KATSINA ALA LGA, BENUE State.

03 May

Suspected nomadic gunmen attacked villages in FORON, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State killing 20 people

Suspected Kuteb militants attacked TAKUM, TAKUM LGA, TARABA State killing at least 5 Tiv students in the School of Health Technology hostel and 15 others in their homes and burning properties. Another 30 people were murdered in YONGOGBA along TAKUM-KPAHSE Road and 1 elderly man was injured in BUTU village (where the villagers reportedly were forewarned of the attack on Friday)

04 May

Suspected Kuteb youths reportedly killed 9 people in TAKUM, TAKUM LGA

Gunmen attacked VAT (killing 17 people) and ZAKUKPANG (killing 13 people) in FORON, BARKIN LADI LGA, PLATEAU State. The attacks took place after 400 cows were reportedly stolen from Fulani’s in JOS EAST. 300 were allegedly recovered. PANDADU and DORONG were reportedly also attacked.

5 gunmen abducted a Catholic priest Fr Innocent UMOR from his rectory. The kidnappers demanded a N4m ransom.

05 May

Suspected Fulani gunmen murdered an Hausa trader and his Tiv business partner in TAKUM LGA

Suspected nomadic gunmen attacked KAKPWIS and RIM Villages, BARKIN LADI LGA around 11.00pm killing 2 men

06 May

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles and Toyota Hiluxes attacked NGULDE Village, ASKIRA UBA LGA, BORNO State with small arms and IEDs around 12.00pm killing 8 people, destroying a telecoms mast and burning several properties. Local vigilantes defeated them reportedly killing 12 attackers

Fr UMOR was released by his captors. The circumstances of his release are not known

Ayuba IBETO the brother of the NIGER State Deputy State Governor was abandoned by his abductors along ZURU/ MAHUTA Road, KEBBI State around 3am. 6 gunmen abducted him from the family home in IBETO Town, MAGAMA LGA, NIGER State.

07 May

Gunmen attacked a convoy of traditional rulers and the BENUE State Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs officials leaving KATSINA ALA, VANDEIKYA LGA, BENUE State, escorting policemen returned fire killing one and fatally wounding one other who dies in hospital

08 May

Gunmen attacked the College of Administrative and Business Studies, POTISKUM, YOBE State with PBSIEDs and an AK 47 around 8.00am. One male opened fire with the rifle wounding 12 people and then detonated a PBSIED, in the car park as he ran out of ammunition killing himself. Another device reportedly detonated in the dormitory. Two other gunmen fled and were captured by local people and handed over to the authorities. Up to 40 other people are reportedly injured escaping from the gunmen.

25,000 have moved from Lake CHAD islands to N’GUIGMI, and BOSSO in DIFFA Region. Aid agencies state they are in need of food, water, transport, medical assistance and shelter

Gunmen attacked TCHEBE TCHEBE Village, MAYO TSANAGA Village, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN with small arms, bow and arrows and machetes, killing 6 and wounding 2 people, stealing livestock and burning up to 25 properties

Gunmen attacked Camerounian forces in ZELEVET, MAYO TSANAGA Department, EXTREME NORD Region, killing 2 Camerounian soldiers. 2 gunmen were killed and a female captured.

Gunmen ambushed a Camerounian patrol in ASHIGASHIYA, MAYO TSANAGA, EXTREME NORD Region around 4.00pm killing 1 soldier and wounding one other.
