Situation Friendly Forces

29 March

The BAUCHI State government has imposed a 24 our curfew on BAUCHI, ALKALERI and KIRFI Towns

30 March

Nigerian forces in BAMA discovered an arms cache with a large number of rifles and other weapons

Nigerian forces conducting a cordon and search operation freed several women and children detained and abandoned by Boko Haram in the vicinity of GWOZA. The troops also identified an IED making facility, capturing an unspecified amount of IED making equipment. Troops were carefully clearing IEDs from the town.

31 March

Nigerian forces supported by air strikes attacked ALAGARNO, DAMBOA LGA, BORNO State.

01 April

Continuing operations in GOMBE State resulted in 3 enemy dead and 1 captured

03 April

Nigerian forces supported by air strikes captured ALAGARNO. The town was reportedly heavily defended with bunkers and checkpoints. YAJIWA, AFA, KAFA and MAUDORI were also captured. Unspecified amounts of ammunition, weapons and vehicles were destroyed and captured.

Situation Enemy Forces

29 March

Gunmen mounted in approximately 10 x vehicles attacked polling units in Central Primary School, KIRFI, ALKALERI LGA around 12.30am and GUMTI GUMI burning down KIRFI and ALKALERI Police Station until repelled, retreating towards DINDIMA Town

Gunmen mounted in 20 x vehicles attacked DUNGULBE Village, BAUCHI State around 10.00am. Locals report they were reportedly using it as a staging area for an attack on BAUCHI City. Friendly forces supported by 2 x aircraft engaged the enemy

Gunmen attacked the convoy carrying Commander 33 Artillery Bde, Brigadier General James MYAM injuring him and 2 of his staff

30 March

Gunmen mounted in 18 x vehicles attacked TAFAWA BALEWA, TAFAWA BALEWA LGA, BAUCHI State with heavy weapons and small arms around 7.30am. They were defeated by friendly forces who inflicted at least 4 casualties and captured 4 x vehicles mounted with crew served weapons. The retreating gunmen then attacked JITAR Village, BAUCHI LGA killing 3 vigilantes

Gunmen mounted in vehicles attacked a 301 Artillery Regiment Checkpoint in DUKKU, DUKKU LGA, GOMBE State with small arms and IEDs around 12.30am but were defeated losing 3 killed and 1 captured. Friendly forces also captured 1 x Toyota Hilux, 3 x IED, 1 x INEC smart reader terminal, 150 x 50cal ammunition, 1 x AK 47 magazine, 3 x bags of rice, a pot of cooked rice, vehicle spare parts and a tyre patching kit. The escaping gunmen were pursued into the hills by local hunters

Gunmen mounted in several vehicles attacked GOMBE ABBA, DUKKU LGA, GOMBE State around 4.30am but were defeated by friendly forces inflicting 4 casualties and

01 April

Suspected nomadic gunmen attacked ANYIIN, KURUNGU, TSE VIR, ABUR and AGERAGA Communities GAMBE TIEV Ward, LOGO LGA, BENUE State with small arms around 5.00am killing 30 people (mostly women and children). Survivors fled to UGBA, LOGO LGA and ZAKI BIAM, UKUM LGA

02 April

An IED detonated outside BAUCHI Motor park in GOMBE, GOMBE State around 8.30pm killing 10 people and injuring 8 others. The device was allegedly concealed in a bag left by a woman next to a bus travelling to JOS and detonated after she left the bag to buy recharge cards and walked away as if to make a call.

02 April

Gunmen mounted in 12 Toyota Hiluxes retreating from ALKALERI, BAUCHI State ambushed soldiers in the vicinity of PINDIGA, AKKO LGA, GOMBE State on ALKALERI-FUTUK-KASHERI Road reportedly killing 6 attempting to extract a vehicle trapped in a dry stream bed

Gunmen attacked KASHERI, AKKO LGA, GOMBE state, killing several people and burning properties,

03 April

Gunmen abducted 9 fishermen from Lake ALAU, KONDUGA LGA, murdering 4 and abducting 5. CJTF vigilantes trailed the gunmen to BALLE Village where they allegedly killed 16 of them

The two detained Al Jazeera journalists were released by Nigerian forces from house arrest in MAIDUGURI and transferred to ABUJA, FCT

04 April

Gunmen attacked KAYAMLA Village, KONDUGA LGA, BORNO State killing 4 people and looting foodstuffs and livestock from the market

Situation External Forces

28 March

A firefight between French and Chadian patrols in the vicinity of the Airport, in NDJAMENA, CHAD resulting in 2 wounded on each side

Chadian/ Nigerien forces (known as Op Mai Boulama) attacked an enemy base in the vicinity of TALAGAM, ABADAM LGA, BORNO State reportedly killing 54 enemy, destroying 3 x pickups, 1 x armoured vehicle and losing 3 (2  Chadians, 1 x Nigerien) killed and 15 injured.

29 March

Gunmen engaged Chadian forces in the vicinity of ABADAM, ABADAM LGA, BORNO State allegedly killing 50 x enemy and losing 2 x Chadian soldiers

30 March

Op Mai Boulama forces attacked insurgent positions on islands in Lake CHAD, using air strikes and ground forces mounted in speedboats

Chadian President DEBY claims in a newspaper interview that he advised NIGERIA against negotiating with Boko Haram. He claims he warned it was orchestrated by Boko Haram to buy time to regroup

Nigerien media reports heavy air strikes in the vicinity of BOSSO, DIFFA Region, NIGER Republic and MALAM FATORI, NIGERIA.

Gunmen attacked BOSSO, DIFFA Department DIFFA Region, NIGER Republic and were defeated by Op Mai Boulama forces claiming 47 enemy killed, 3 vehicles, several motorcycles and 1 x armoured vehicle destroyed and no allied casualties. The enemy reportedly retreated to MALAM FATORI

An officer and NCO from Op Barkhane HQ in N’DJAMENA have been attached as liaison officers to Camerounian forces in MAROUA, EXTREME NORD Region. 2 Camerounians officers have been detached and LO’s to Op Barkhane

31 March

Op Mai Boulama forces supported by air strikes attacked MALAM FATORI, ABADAM LGA, BORNO State claiming to have captured the town. The town had been abandoned by the enemy

01 April

Op Mai Boulama forces were ambushed by enemy forces in the vicinity of MALAM FATORI who inflicted 9 x Chadians and 1 x Nigerien dead and 16 wounded (nationalities unspecified). The Chadians claim to have inflicted ‘hundreds’ of casualties

A UXO detonated in the EL BEID River Bed in between FOTOKOL, EXTREME NORD Region, CAMEROUN and GAMBORU, GAMBORU NGALA LGA injuring 4 children, 3 of whom died later of their wounds

02 April

The UN Human Rights Council in GENEVA, SWITZERLAND accused Boko Haram of using children as cannon fodder and condemned their terrorist acts

Gunmen attacked MAIDOGO Village, LAC Region, CHAD on an island in Lake CHAD, killing 7 people. The attackers retreated from MALAM FATORI an attempted to cross the lake on canoes

03 April

Gunmen mounted on motorcycles abducted a nurse (Mahamat ABBA) from the market in TCHAKAMARI, MAYO SAVA Department, EXTREME NORD Region and looted goods
